Welcome to another TSABD Edit! If you’ve missed past TSABD Edits, you can look through the archives here.
This week’s TSABD Edit features three fairly new products sent to me for review consideration: BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette, Flirt Cosmetics Chic Happens Ombre Lip Kit, and Jay Manuel Filter Finish Collection 3D Illuminator.
Jay Manuel Filter Finish Collection 3D Illuminator
If you haven’t tried any Jay Manuel products, check out my previous reviews here to learn more about the brand. I really love a lot of the products in the Jay Manuel line—the overall theme with the brand seems to be “flawless” and “camera-ready” much like its founder and namesake. I’d even say that if I didn’t already have so much makeup or if the Jay Manuel brand had been around longer, I would have way more Jay Manuel products in my stash (of course other than what is sent to me for review from the brand). Basically I’m saying the Jay Manuel brand is worth a look. Again, check out my previous reviews here.
So the Jay Manuel Filter Finish Collection 3D Illuminator comes in three shades—I have two that were sent to me: Paparazzi (a gorgeous bronzy deep gold) and Stardom (a gorgeous light champagne gold). Both shades look great on darker skin tones so whichever one you get depends on your preference. I personally can find a use for both shades like these in my makeup routine.
I love that these give a gorgeous glow and are not glittery—you’ll get a pretty healthy glow that you can intensify by adding layers or by spritzing your makeup brush with water or makeup spray either before you dip it in the 3D Illuminator or after you’ve dipped it (I would prefer spritzing the brush AFTER you swipe it in the makeup—this way you don’t get moisture on the makeup compact which could lead to bacteria growth).
Note: it’s a little harder to see the 3D Illuminators on camera after I blended, but trust me, they’re there and are visible more in person.
These are solid, great quality illuminators/highlighters. I love how the compact is sturdy and sleek—you can slip this in almost any makeup bag since they don’t take up too much room. I’d say these are worth a look if you don’t already have a gazillion highlighters/illuminators and if the price tag fits your budget.

Flirt Cosmetics Chic Happens Ombre Lip Kit
Using a lip liner with lip color to create an ombre lip look isn’t a groundbreaking concept in 2017, but I do appreciate Flirt Cosmetics’ cute approach to pairing the two together for their Chic Happens Ombre Lip Kit.
Suckers for cute packaging beware: from the cute little boxes these come in to the OMG-how-adorable kiss printing on the products themselves, you’ll likely need to brace yourself.
I love that the liner comes in a tube you’d normally see lipstick in—this makes it so that you won’t need to reach for a sharpener (looks like as you use the liner it wears down to keep its pointed shape).
The glosses have a sweet vanilla scent to them and are semi-opaque in finish. My favorite shades are Neo Femme and Slay All Day. Now since these are glosses, the wear is of course not going to be what you’d get with a matte or longwearing creme, but by adding the lip pencil you give the gloss an extra layer to hold onto which gives it a little more mileage. And of course the brighter and deeper shades will last longer than the nudes since brighter and deeper shades tend to leave a stain on the lips.
There’s no sound on these either.
Flirt Cosmetics Chic Happens Ombre Lip Kit is nice, adorable packaging, and functions as it should. It’s not an OMG-hurry-up-and-buy must-have though. It’s nice to have, but you can also do the same thing with regular lip pencil and gloss which I’m sure you have in bountiful quantities in your stashes.

BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette
The BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette (also sent to me for review consideration) is absolutely gorgeous (I feel like I said absolutely gorgeous like 20 times in this post already…lol. Forgive me, I took an allergy pill last night and still feeling drowsy). Anyway, the palette features four beautiful, high-quality shades to highlight, bronze, and blush your face into perfection. Each shade features the high quality and great performance you’d expect in BECCA products all neatly packed into one substantial-feeling (but thankfully not heavy) palette. It can give you any number of pretty sunkissed glow makeup looks.
If you have a deeper skin tone, I’d say around my skin tone or darker, this isn’t a must-have. I’d even extend that to say anyone darker than about a MAC NC45 may want to wait until BECCA comes out with a deeper version of this palette or I’m sure you have individual items in your stash that will work.
It’s hard to make a face palette that works on everyone—there will always be a shade or two that doesn’t work for someone. And since this palette is a collaboration with a person, of course the shades will work amazingly with that person’s skin tone. The two highlighters in the palette work very well on dark skin (and may also work for most skin tones as well) but the blush has to be layered in order for the pink in it to show up well and even then it’s still a bit faint (the gold shimmer in it is more apparent than the pink), and forget about using the bronzer anywhere on darker skin. I mean you could use the bronzer as an eyeshadow.
I just think when it comes to face palettes, a majority if not all of the shades need to work on you for it to be worth the money. Back in the day I might buy a palette like this just to get the highlighters, but now I’m more about making sure the items I do add to my stash are ones I can really get great use out of, so present day me passes. Plus the highlighters can be duplicated.
BECCA did just come out with a range of bronzers that include shades that work well on most darker skin tones. You can check it out here. I also did a post on Bronzers for Dark Skin so make sure you check that out as well here. Also check out Blush for Dark Skin to see which blush shades work best on darker skin tones. There’s also a video version on my Youtube—make sure you SUBSCRIBE as well!
I do think that this may not be the last we see in the form of a collaboration between BECCA and Chrissy Teigen. I have this feeling that there will be more products to come much like what we saw happen with BECCA x Jaclyn Hill. If that’s the case then I think we’ll see more of a variety of product shade ranges.

I don’t have a video demo for this because I got it much later than the other products and my filming schedule didn’t coincide with blog posting.
