Quick Overview of NEW Makeup Coming to Target (Dark Skin)

Share this post:

So as I mentioned in this post, Target is expanding their makeup options to offer even MORE for people with darker skin tones. Brands like The Lip Bar, Coloured Raine, and EveryHue Beauty are coming to the retailer so we’ll be spending even MORE time in Target’s beauty aisles. I got a selection of items and wanted to give you a quick overview of what you can expect.

This post is just an overview of a *few* products.

Now, I only got a small selection and asked for the Target team to send me some of the deepest shades offered from the brands just so I’d have an idea of how deep some of the shades go. The complexion products I received are too dark for me, but once I can get my hands on more products, I’ll post a review with my proper shades. Make sure you’re subscribed to the blog so you don’t miss it.

Note that some of these products may already be in select Target locations and all are on the Target site, so I’ll provide a corresponding link below.

EveryHue Beauty Luminous Tinted Moisturizer

One of my biggest gripes is that when it comes to lightweight complexion products, there are very few options for those with dark skin. I’m glad this brand has come through to provide more lightweight options for deeper skin tones. (P.S. Checkout my Lightweight Summer Foundations for Dark Skin series for more options)

Feels like a tinted moisturizer yet performs like a foundation in vibrant hues! Our luminous tinted moisturizer offers light to medium coverage with a natural satin finish. It is infused with vitamins A, C & E, and broad spectrum SPF 25. This luxurious tinted moisturizer is buildable and suitable for all skin types. How to use: For seamless coverage, apply dime-sized amount to a foundation brush, makeup blending sponge or fingertips. Dot the tinted moisturizer onto your forehead, cheeks and chin. Spread and blend the tinted moisturizer evenly.

Descriptions from the Target site:
Cacao: Deep, Cool Red Undertones
Java: Deep, Cool Red Undertones
Amaretto: Deep, Cool Undertones
Mocha: Dark, Cool Golden and Red Undertones
Deep Tan Hazelnut: Medium Dark, Red Golden Undertones
Deep Tan Nutmeg: Medium, Cool Golden Undertones
Deep Tan Toffee: Cool Medium, Golden Undertones
Deep Tan Praline: Cool Medium, Light Golden Undertones

(Marzipan and Honey seem to both be grouped under “Cool, Neutral Light Golden Undertones” on the Target site)

I love the way the formula feels and it looks like the finish might be amazing (hard to tell when the shade is too dark). Keep in mind that lighter weight foundations/tinted moisturizers can be more flexible meaning more people can work the shades because the formula is lighter (aka the shade doesn’t have to be a precise match for you and can still work). I’ll keep you posted if there’s a match for me in the lineup.

EveryHue Beauty Luminous Tinted Moisturizer is $18.99 at Target. You can buy it or see if your local store carries it here.

You can shop the rest of EveryHue Beauty’s products on Target’s site here.

Haleys Re:Set Liquid Matte Foundation

This oil-free liquid foundation offers smudge-proof coverage, comfortable long wear and a striking matte finish. Formulated with a double dose of pigments, RE:SET delivers instant yet weightless coverage to camouflage all skin imperfections. It’s designed to control shine and minimize the need for touch ups throughout wear. Available in 31 diverse shades that stay true to skin tone. For best results, apply with a sponge. Build to full coverage by layering as needed. HALEYS products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. This product is formulated WITHOUT: fragrance, parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

This is a medium to full buildable coverage foundation. The shade I have is too dark, but the formula and finish feel amazing. They don’t have shade descriptions, but there is an undertone notated for each shade on the Target site and they have swatches.

They’re $19.99 each. You can get them on the Target site or see if your local store carries it here.

Hue Noir True Hues Flawless Matte Finish Foundation

This longwearing, powder-matte finish foundation, formulated in true skin-tone hues, provides coverage that is versatile and buildable allowing you to cover as little or as much as you’d like. The skin-friendly formula is weightless, comfortable, crease-resistant, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. It lasts all day but washes off effortlessly with your favorite cleanser when you are done.

The formula on this feels lightweight and looks like it might have a nice, natural matte finish. Again, the shade I have is too dark for me, but I’d be interested in trying this out in something closer to my shade.

I didn’t see shade descriptions for these on the Target site nor on the Hue Noir site, but they do have this message on their site: Need help finding your shade? Our makeup addicts can help you find your match! Email us at customerservice@huenoir.com or call us at 503-526-1649. Free samples available upon request.

There appears to be 20 shades on the Target site. They’re $19.99 each. You can get them on the Target site or see if your local store carries it here.

I’m really excited about all three foundation products and will try to visit my Target to see if I can find shade matches for me. Stay tuned!

NOTE: With these brands being more accessible through Target and having so many more options available for deeper skin tones, it might be a little more puzzling figuring out your shade if you’re comparing it to other brand’s shades. I also want to remind you that there is no universal foundation shade guide in the beauty industry. You can read more about that in my Dark MAC Foundation Swatches (NC50–NW58, etc) + Why MAC Foundation Isn’t a Guide post.

The Lip Bar/Makeup Geek/Violet Voss

The Lip Bar

The Lip Bar products have been available on Target.com for quite some time, but now the brand is in select stores! My local Target has it and I always smile when I see the products sell out and then get restocked by my next visit. They have a variety of liquid matte, lipsticks, and glosses. You can shop The Lip Bar on the Target site here and find out where it’s sold in-store near you.

Violet Voss

Violet Voss’ brand new liquid lipstick formula is a highly pigmented, long lasting matte liquid lipstick that provides not only a radiant finish but enhances your natural lip color.

Looks like Violet Voss at Target will feature some lashes and lip product. I received the matte liquid lipstick in More Funner. Color selection and availability may vary by store, but check out the brand here on the Target site to buy and see if it’s sold near you.

Makeup Geek

I got the Plush Creme in Old Soul ($13.99 each—buy them here)

Coloured Raine Focal Point GlowLighters

So far it looks like only the Coloured Raine GlowLighters and the Matte Lip Paint will be sold at Target I’m hoping that eventually more products come to store (like I hear their eyeshadow palettes are dope). But this GlowLighter in “Your Treat” that I received is very gorgeous and pigmented.

Our Focal Point GlowLighters are butter soft highlighters that melt into your skin and blend like a dream. These highlighters apply weightlessly for maximum illumination.

The Focal Point GlowLighters are $19.99 each—get them here (or see if they sell them in-store near you)

Reina Rebelde

The Reina Rebelde On Your Face Contour + Color Trio in Coqueta is a luxurious, multi-use face palette that features a pearlized blush, gorgeous highlighter and perfectly matte bronzer designed to suit your beautiful Latina skin. The Reina Rebelde On Your Face Contour + Color Trio is easy to apply with flawlessly blend-able colors for bold contouring, strobing looks, or swirling all three shades together for a sun-kissed finish. Formulated to also be dusted over your lipstick for a show-stopping metallic effect and for eyeshadow application. Vegan and Cruelty-Free.

I’m sure this is an awesome product, but it’s mostly too light for my skin tone. The blush is nice though and reminds me of NARS Orgasm.

This set is $18 and you can find it on the Target site here or check to see if it’s sold in-store near you.

  1. Rosie says:

I’m interested in these brands also. I’m so happy to see that the beauty (especially drugstore cosmetic companies) are finally making products for use with deeper skin tones. I actually emailed Haley’s beauty for samples and they sent me 3 shades for a possible match. Shipped was very fast and I received them in 2 days.

  2. Tracy says:

Hi.Am a big fan of your blogger. Same skin color as yours… which highlighter would you recommend. For absolutely zero glitter…just glow sheen. Please I have bought like 10 highlighters bt I end up throwing them all out coz of the inevitable glitter. Am currently eyeing Mary Lou manizer. Does it have glitters too?. Which other highlighters can you recommend

  3. I am so interested in the tinted moisturizer. Off to Youtube for reviews!!!
