My Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas for Fashionistas

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Crest. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I LOVE Halloween, however, somehow it always seems to come so fast and I seem to find myself sometimes without a costume before game time. Which is weird because EVERY year I scroll on Instagram during Halloween ooing and aahing at all the clever costumes people come up with and I vow to be on point next year only when next year comes, I’m back at square one. This year I got invited to a glam Halloween party which is great except it’s in LA and I need to be here in NYC for work-related stuff.

But one thing that’s a given every Halloween, is that I’ll buy a bucket of candy in case any of the neighborhood kids ring my doorbell. Some years it’ll be really busy and I’ll have maybe like ten pieces left. But some years not a single kid rings the doorbell and I’m left with a bucket of candy that I claim I won’t eat, but we ALL know I wind up eating it…lol.

Look man, don’t judge me—most people (73% of those responding to a Halloween survey conducted by Crest) purposefully buy more Halloween candy than they actually needed for trick-or-treaters JUST so they can eat what’s left…lol. I will say that I don’t purposely buy more candy than needed—I can never really gauge how many kids will come by and I would hate to not have any if a bunch roll through. And then when no kids show up, I wind up eating it. I mean, I guess that’s similar :/

But anyway, let’s get into these last minute Halloween costume ideas…

So if you’re like me and you have cute items in your closet, you don’t need to do much to get into the Halloween spirit. I have stuff right here in my closet that can make a quick costume with just a few tweaks—and I’m sure you do, too.

You know all that animal print that’s in the stores now? I hate to call it a trend because animal prints are classic, but it’s trending now since they’re in SO much of it at stores right now, but they can also translate into a costume if you use your imagination.

Here I’m basically a leopard fashion editor—you know, a leopard who happens to be a fashion editor. I slipped on a leopard print dress I got at the Zara sale a few months ago, my Schutz leopard sandals, some leopard ears that also came with a tail I got at Target, and my Celine shades. The lip is MAC Fashion Legacy and my little leopard nose was made using Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Perversion.

And then I put on this zebra print dress I LOVE from ASOS and now I’m a zebra fashionista—I might even be the leopard fashion editor’s assistant. My lip is NARS Paint it Black Powermatte, my shoes are old from JustFab, and the ears are old from BCBG.

If you don’t have many prints in your wardrobe, throw on a fancy coat on over any cute dress, throw on a turban, and carry a large handbag and BOOM! Rich widow from the 80s.

I seriously love this time of year and having social media makes it even more fun because I can scroll through my feed and be at EVERYBODY’S party. It’s my favorite thing to do (aside from staying at all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean).

P.S. To counter all this Halloween and candy talk, check out these cavity-preventing Crest deals happening at Target. I have my eye on that $5 gift card deal and I’m going to need that Gum & Enamel Repair after I get done with all these Tootsie Rolls:

* From 10/28 to 11/24, Target will be offering $2.00 off Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy and $2.00 off Crest Gum & Enamel Repair OR Crest Gum Detoxify through the Cartwheel app.
* Along with the Cartwheel deals there is a gift card offer running 10/28 – 11/3, buy 4 Crest Pastes and receive a $5 gift card to Target (I LOOOOVE when Target does these—I stock up and use the $5 gift card on something in the clothing aisle…lol)
* And if you’re really hyped about saving, on 10/28 a $2-off coupon insert will be available inside local newspapers across the U.S. on your favorite Crest Toothpaste varieties through 11/10.

Side note: Have you seen this funny Halloween video from Crest? Why did those kids have to kick that guy like that? He just wanted them to be healthy…lol.
