Mixed Stripes and Faux Fur + I Get Hot-Cold in the Fall/Winter

If you watched my most recent try-on haul (I’ll embed the video later in this post so you can see it, but make sure you’re subscribed to my Youtube channel so you don’t miss videos like it), you’ll know that this striped top and skirt were bought from two different stores. They’re not even the same print if you look closely—but they still go together! At least in my world they do…lol.

I’m incorporating more skirts and dresses into my late fall/winter wardrobe which means heavier materials like both of these knit pieces and of course under-layering when necessary. But chile, I definitely have to work in layers during this time of year—namely because the weather can NEVER make up its mind: one day it’s 55 degrees, the next it’s 28, then after that it’s 40 then in the 60s. SMH. You can’t rely on yesterday’s weather to help you figure out what to wear the next day—you have to check the temperature for every single day and dress accordingly. Even when it’s “cold” outside, I can tend to get hot because I’m moving around pretty quickly (hey, I have long legs and I’m a New Yorker—I damn near power walk everywhere) so it’s not unlikely you’ll catch me outside wearing a denim jacket with a faux fur collar during winter. But I also drive—I don’t even know what I’d do now if I had to wait for the bus and train. I’d need to layer up because I’d be waiting outside, but the second I get on the bus or the train, I’d be peeling off layers because I’d be HOT and then I’d need an extra bag to make sure I keep all those layers with me and WHO wants to hold an extra bag?!?!? See, I have issues…lol.

But this outfit is a great example of what I’d wear to ease my hot-coldness: the faux fur vest (I got it on eBay and ordered it about a size or two bigger so I’d get the oversized effect), the knit top and skirt with the option of wearing tights (which I am of course not doing here because it wasn’t cold enough), and then spicing things up with those bronze Schutz shoes I found on a random trip to Nordstrom Rack.
