All Black, Not the Omen…

As a native New Yorker, you’d think I’d be more amenable to all-black outfits as it’s said to be the NYC uniform. HOWEVER, I am the offspring of TWO Caribbean parents (both from Trinidad to be specific) and color runs in my veins. Even though this outfit utilizes different black finishes (do you SEE the patent finish on those boots), I felt plain while shooting it so I went in my car and threw on my red shades from Free People…lol.

Outfit details:

Dress: ASOS (just $35!)
Boots: Zara (on sale—only a few sizes available, though stalk to see if your size comes back)
Bag: Louis Vuitton (I got mine secondhand at Century 21 stores)
Sunglasses: Free People

Beauty details:

Foundation: Dior Face & Body Foundation
Concealer/Highlight/Contour: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, NARS Soft Velvet Loose Powder, Cover FX Total Cover Cream, Cover FX Pressed Mineral Powder (find out which shades I wear in each here)
Eyes: Natasha Denona Cranberry Palette
Blush: NARS Exhibit A with Taj Mahal on top
Lip: LORAC Flower Child Alter Ego Lipgloss
Lashes: Koko Lashes in Venus
Hair: Big Chop Hair Blown Straight u-part wig 24″ (use code STYLEDOC for 15% off) cut and styled by Gabrielle Corney.

For the record, so far I love these damn boots. They’re relatively easy to walk in, look good, and go with so much. They can be a little hot, so I’d only wear them when it’s notably cold out. They’re on sale now at Zara although I wound up paying full price for them the night before the Black Friday sale. My reasoning was I wanted them before and they were sold out in my size, but I noticed a restock so I got them and figured I would re-buy when they went on sale —but by the time they were on sale which was literally just a few hours later, size 10 was sold out :x I’m happy to have them even though I paid full price. You can see them in action in my try-on haul video embedded below. Make sure you SUBSCRIBE to my Youtube channel for more videos :)
