Spring Fashion and Beauty Preview (All the Things You Won’t Stop Wearing!)

Winter is canceled.

I mean, let me not be so harsh. This past winter wasn’t so bad—but then when you think about how the planet is getting warmer and warmer, “wasn’t so bad” probably isn’t the best way to describe it.

I’ll just say I’m only here for winter because of the coats and cool cold weather accessories. Dassit.

But now spring is on the horizon and I, along with the good folks at Crest who want us to put our best smiles forward (um, it is post-Valentine’s and if you indulged in all that candy, you better be thankful for their Crest Pro-Health and Crest 3D White lines) bring you this spring fashion and beauty preview post filled with some of the things you won’t stop wearing come next season!

Fashion

I am most excited about spring clothes—I personally want to be in long, easy layers as well as bold prints and fun colors all season long. But there are a few trends that I’m also excited for—hey, trends aren’t always bad as long as you like them…lol. Last fall’s animal print trend was like jackpot for me because I got so many extra pieces in animal prints that I’ll love for as long as I can fit into them. Animal prints are crawling their way into spring as well.

Neon is already making its way into some of the early spring arrivals at stores now. I am here for it! I can see myself indulging in a few pieces for this trend: shoes definitely, but also I’m envisioning a bright neon trench in vinyl, and then maybe a neon statement skirt.

We’re also seeing more playful and fun textures in fashion like vinyl, mesh, and lace. I’m here for it!

I’m also here for long layers: maxi skirts, maxi dresses, maxi trenches, etc. cinched with statement belts. I’ll be playing up proportions and scale come spring.

While I love a mix of colors, I do intend on rocking a head to toe blush-toned and/or pink-toned looks at least once come spring.

As we’re getting closer and closer to 2020, expect to see some of the stuff we loved to hate from the early 00s make a comeback. 20 years makes something vintage and I cannot believe things like super low rise jeans and crop tops that I wore in my college days will now be revamped and worn by Gen Z and Gen Z+.

Beauty

Since everything has been SO matte for so long, it’s only the natural progression of things for the beauty trends to swing the other way. We already started seeing this with the “glass skin” trend on Instagram and Youtube. Makeup artists I love and respect such as @kingmalimagic @noorface @danessamyricks and @namvo showcase the skin that looks so healthy and naturally dewy, it looks like glass.

I recently tried two new Dior foundations that can help you get the look (check it out here), but I also ordered Skin Glass from Noor Face as well as Dew Wet Balm from Danessa Myricks. Make sure you’re subscribed to the blog and my Youtube channel so you don’t miss me talking about them.

As far as color, I think we will continue to see pops of color—I personally want to get into more orange.

I also feel a departure from liquid matte lips are making their way in. Matte lips of course won’t go away, but I do feel they’ve been done so much that again, it only makes sense for us to start seeing more glossier textures (and I’m hoping for opaque glosses because those are my faves).
