Just a Girl from Queens Who Went Out on Three School Nights in a Row

Listen, I am having the time of my life right now. The weather is warming up (let’s push through for more consistency though, earth) and I don’t know about ya’ll but I plan on being OUT over the next few warm months and all that extra daylight. You know those memes about people who love to be in their homes and thrive on cancelling plans? Not gonna lie, that’s me, but that’s also typically me when it’s cold out. Now, I’m barely turning down any invites. I need to be OUT in this world, oKKKKK?!?!

This week alone I’ve been out three school nights in a row. Last night I touched Chaka Khan and awkwardly sang to her a little bit (meanwhile I can’t sing) at the launch party for her collab with Indique Hair (I didn’t get a picture with her but hoping there’s footage of us talking so I can plaster it all over my Instagram). I also partook in the spirits (if you know me, you know I’m a SUPER lightweight and can get tipsy off half a drink) and didn’t even get in until after 11 PM. I had a date Wednesday night way passed my curfew as well. I also have a busy Saturday ahead with Essence Beauty Carnival and a movie date. Listen, sis is trying to be out in these streets. I have plans and social goals to be met. Next week I’m having an event at the Dior Beauty Boutique (still some tickets left), then my sister is coming to town, and then that following week I’ll be in Tulum with a bunch of my blogger boos. It’s such an exciting time!

But don’t get it twisted, I’m gonna need Ben Gay and two heating pads to be able to pull all of this off. Maybe even another physical therapy visit. But it feels good. They might as well put me on the sick and shut-in list during the winter…lol.

The most important thing about being “outchea” (colloquialism for “being out”) is that it opens you up to many possibilities. You never know who you’ll run into who can change your life. Like, I TOUCHED and sang to Chaka Khan last night. What if I left such a great impression on her that she asks me to sing back-up and tour with her? Granted I CANNOT sing, but what if the spirit moves me and all of a sudden I’m belting out the jams? YOU NEVER KNOW.

But in all seriousness, we work hard, we deserve to play hard sometimes. Live life. Life is so short–take a chance! Dance on a table, introduce yourself to that mogul, wear that outfit you love without caring what others will think.

Loved this post. While not as Grande as your plans, I went out with friends for the first time after having my second baby. It was good to actually laugh out loud!
