What I’m Looking Forward to at The Makeup Show NYC

Nothing ignites the beginning of the hot weather season than the annual beauty gang reunion that goes down at The Makeup Show NYC. I’m particularly fond of The Makeup Show because I get to see many of my favorite makeup artists, beauty bloggers, Youtubers, beauty journalists, and more all in the same place. I also enjoy learning about new products and new techniques straight from industry vets. Here’s what I’m looking forward to with this year’s show.

The discounts

I mean, I look forward to this every year. You can get up to 40% off and other deals at The Makeup Show. I see that Natasha Denona will be there. I might need to skip over to their booth and see what’s what. I also see that Melanie Mills will be there (she makes Melanie Mills Gleam aka liquid panythose—see it in action on me with Melanie Mills herself here and then here).

And then I’ll do a once-over and see what else I might need to get. You can see which other brands will be there here.

The classes

When I first started going to The Makeup Show NYC way back during its inception days (I’m talking like 10 years ago or more), I was a makeup artist looking for product for my kit, but also looking to get as much education from the top artists in the industry. Although I don’t work as a makeup artist anymore, I do like to continue learning as much as I can as it helps me enhance my content. You can see this year’s lineup here.

Previously, I got to co-teach a class on skin at The Makeup Show Atlanta. The homey Felicia is doing one this year—check out the listings here.

The trends

Many trends in makeup start at The Makeup Show and what’s great is you can learn the trends and shop the trends all in the same place. Makeup artist and Director of Artistry at The Makeup Show James Vincent summarized the trends we can expect to see at the show in a recent press release. I’m most excited about full-figure lashes, skin gang (more skincare brands than ever before will be at this year’s show), and hot, hot heat as I’m looking to look like an Oscar this summer. I need to get my hands on Melanie Mills’ Gleam setting spray so I don’t get my glow all over my cute summer pieces…lol.

The Makeup Show is open to anyone in the beauty industry, not just makeup artists. The video below can give you more of an idea. To get tickets and learn more about other cities, check out themakeupshow.com.
