28 Bright Lip Color Swatches from MAC, YSL, MUFE, and Illamasqua

So I’ve been slacking on my swatching, ladies. Sorry! To me it’s much easier to tap out a post than it is to take pictures, but so many of you have asked so I must oblige.

Now even though I got a new camera, I still have no idea what I’m doing…lol. I also wish I had the time and patience to swatch these on my lips, but I did put in some effort—I put lotion on my arms for you guys! *crickets*

Anyway, onto the swatches…

Oh wait—one more thing. Swatching also helped me to realize that I do not need to buy any more lip color. At all. And that while I love bright colors, I wear more reds and berries than anything else.

from left to right: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté in #18 Rouge/Red Taboo, Clarins Rouge Prodige #130 Barocco, MAC Lustering, MAC Up the Amp, MAC Lickable, MAC Style Curve, MAC Morange, MAC Russian Red, MAC Neon Orange

from left to right: Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense #8, MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry, Black Radiance Lipstick in #5013, Stila Long Wear Liquid Lip Color in Fiery, MAC Lipmix in Crimson, Illamasqua Lipstick in Ignite, Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Shine #23 Candy Plum, Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture #8 Belle de Rose, Chanel Rouge Allure Laque #75 Dragon, MAC Rebel

from left to right: MAC Petals & Peacocks, MAC Violetta, MAC Pink Nouveau, MAC Strayin’, MAC Girl About Town, MAC Lady Danger, MAC Show Orchid, MAC Ruby Woo, MAC I Like It Like That

Let me know what you guys think and ways I can improve this type of post.

Thanks for all the swatches, this helps because I know what a lipstick looks like before I buy it; since I now spend 80% of my time in the Virgin Islands & order all my stuff. When I head back to Brooklyn (woot, woot) next month I’ll definitely be checking out a MAC store for ‘Lady Danger’ & ‘Girl about town.’ & I have to check out Black radiance products, because I am very impressed with how it stands out with the rest.

The photos are bright & your picture taking skills definitely do justice to the swatches :)

      Thanks for the feedback, Nesh!

Yay for Brooklyn and checking out new lipsticks! Yes—you do need to check out Black Radiance—they are awesome!

You have me sold on that YSL #18 and I keep seeing orange lips pop up so I may give the MAC Morange a try if it looks good on my NW 43 ish skin.

Great post!!!!(feel free to hand over any bright lipsticks you don’t want…lol) Maybe you can do a post on great lipliners to go with these bright lipsticks or nice nail polishes(like illamasqua) to match?

Thanks so much for posting this! I have been looking for bright colors and those MAC colors in the last picture and the YSL in the first are giving me fever! It seems to me like I will just have to take a few hours, visit a few counters, and figure out which ones go best with my skin tone!

I’d like to know which colors you prefer, especially when you swatch colors that are similar. A swatch tells a lot but a valid opinion really puts me over the edge. Otherwise I end up with 3 lipsticks that are similar colors just because. Bad habits! lol With that said, I love that you did this girl! And don’t sleep on your photography skills!
