Your Best Makeup Colors: Freida Pinto

Your Best Makeup Colors is a new series here on The Style and Beauty Doctor aimed to help at taking some of the guess work out of choosing makeup colors for your skin tone. I’ll use pictures of celebs to help illustrate the series so when a celeb most closely matches your skin tone you can grab some ideas.

Note: The makeup I mention are colors that will go great with a certain skin tone, but aren’t the only ones you should try. They’ll give you a good idea of what colors will look best on you. Also I’ll be mentioning a lot of brands that are “internet popular” meaning that you’ll be able to check Google Images for swatches easily. This way you can still have an idea of colors and still shop within your own fave brands (drugstore, indie, department store).

Cool!

Up next is Freida Pinto.

I’d describe Freida’s skin tone as medium olive tone with neutral undertones. This means she looks good in colors that aren’t very cool nor very warm. In other words certain bluish undertone colors would look to harsh as would those with very yellow undertones. If I had to guess, I’d say she’d be about a MAC NC 44 (or NC 45.5 from Mickey Contractor). Colors like purples, oranges, pinks, burgundy, greens, as well as colors close to the skin tone (and darker) look great on this skin tone.

Eyeshadows (MAC–if MAC isn’t your fave brand still use this as a guide to figure out which similar colors look best in other brands):

P.S. I tried to only picked colors from the permanent line so you don’t get stuck on a color only to realize it’s sold out.

Neutrals: Blanc Type, Brule, Honesty, Shroom, Malt, Brule, Embark, Brown Script, Haux, Corduroy, Nylon, Ricepaper, Patina, Orb, Grain, Wedge, Saddle, Charcoal Brown, Satin Taupe, Bisque, Retrospeck, Woodwinked, Soft Brown, Honey Lust, Era, Cork, Romp, Arena, Texture, Swiss Chocolate, Mulch, Espresso, Bronze, Twinks

For Fun: Cranberry, Humid, Sushi Flower, Passionate, Plum Dressing, Star Violet, Shadowy Lady, Sketch, Rule, Red Brick, Paradisco, Amber Lights, Goldmine, Gorgeous Gold, Coppering, Antiqued, Handwritten, Contrast, Carbon, Nehru, Plumage, Vibrant Grape, Purple Haze, Hepcat, Beauty Marked, Nocturnelle

And if you can get your hands on any of the MAC Mickey Contractor shadows, you’re as good as gold.

Blush: Rosy, plum, coral, and even gold-ish colors look best on this skin tone.

Illamasqua: Beg, Chased, Create, Disobey, Excite, Expose, Hussy, Lover, Tweak
NARS: Amour, Exhibit A, Gilda, Gina, Lovejoy, Taj Mahal, Taos, Dolce Vita, Mounia, Orgasm, Torrid
MAC: Peaches, Pink Swoon, Well Dressed, Fleur Power, Springsheen, Style, Peachykeen, Pinch O’ Peach, Coppertone, Harmony, Trace Gold, Margin, Peachtwist, Sunbasque, Sweet as Cocoa (bronzer/contour)

Bronzer: great to warm up the complexion or to contour.

Try: Covergirl Queen Collection Bronzer in Brown Bronze, NARS Bronzer in Casino and Irrésistiblement, Bare Escentuals All Over Face Color in Warmth, Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in Terracotta 3, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder, Too Faced Caribbean In A Compact – Sun Bunny

Lips: mid-tone colors with neutral undertones work best. Colors that are too cool or too warm or are too bright can be too harsh for this skin tone. Colors that have a brown-ish tone to them in it work great.

Reds: MAC Fresh Moroccan Lipstick, MAC Spice it Up! Lipstick, MAC New York Apple Lipstick, MAC Chili Lipstick, MAC Diva Lipstick, MAC Rebel Lipstick
Orange: MAC Lipstick in So Chaud
Nudes: MAC High Tea Lipstick, MAC Blankety Lipstick, MAC Velvet Teddy, MAC Spirit Lipstick, MAC Freckletone Lipstick, MAC Jubilee Lipstick, MAC Half N’ Half Lipstick, MAC Siss Lipstick, MAC Creme in Your Coffee
Browns/Neutrals: MAC Gel Lipstick, MAC O Lipstick, MAC Retro Lipstick, MAC Touch Lipstick, MAC Strength Lipstick, MAC Spice is Nice, MAC Plastique Lipstick, MAC Cherish Lipstick, MAC Bronze Shimmer Lipstick, MAC Shag Lipstick, MAC Coconutty Lipstick
Pinks/Plums: MAC Sweetie Lipstick, MAC Hot Gossip Lipstick, MAC Syrup Lipstick, MAC Hue Lipstick, MAC Sequin Lipstick, MAC Darkside, MAC Fast Play Lipstick, MAC Cosmo Lipstick, MAC Faux Lipstick, MAC Plumful Lipstick, MAC Plum Dandy Lipstick, MAC Media Lipstick, MAC Film Noir, MAC Desire Lipstick, MAC Amorous Lipstick, MAC Capricious Lipstick, MAC Hang Up Lipstick, MAC Midimauve Lipstick, MAC Cyber Lipstick

This was so useful. Thank you, I never thought of a neutral category in makeup, I was more struggling to find whether I fit into warm or cool, buying a lot of products that didnt flatter me and not knowing why!
