So raise your hand if you watch “Scandal” on ABC. Now keep your hand up if you watch AND also love the mauve-y pink lip color main character Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) wears on the show. Isn’t it gorgeous? Such a simple, gorgeous color but you know what’s funny? There aren’t a ton of brands that make lip color that isn’t too pink nor too light right out of the tube. Sure you can create it by mixing colors in your stash with some lip pencil, but I wanted straight up Olivia Pope color without any work. So I hit both Sephora and MAC and found five suitable options that even Liv would approve.

As would Kerry Washington who is often spotted wearing the shade range when she’s not playing one of the toughest lead characters on TV. See…

Gorgeous! So here’s the five lipsticks I found…

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in #28, described as a light taupe, this color has a satin finish with opaque coverage. It has a good mix of light pink and brown in it.

MAC Lipstick in Hug Me, described as a “flesh pink,” this color has a lustre finish (it gives the opacity of a lipstick, but the shine and glide of a gloss). It has equal mauve-pink and brown.

MAC Lipstick in Creme de la Femme, described as a “pink laced with gold,” this one is a little pinker than the rest, but because it’s a frost it has a more sheer finish and the pink isn’t so overwhelming.

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Musk, described as a pink brown, this one is super creamy and super moisturizing and like all Bite Beauty lip products, it contains the amount of resveratrol found in five glasses of red wine.

MAC Lipstick in Touch, described as a peachy cinnamon, this one is a little browner than the other four if you’re looking for something more subtle. It’s a lustre finish so it gives the opacity of a lipstick, but the shine and glide of a gloss.
