50 Shades of Lipstick (As Demonstrated on Me) Part 2: The Pinks

pink lipstick on dark skin danielle gray the style and beauty doctor

Okay so one of these isn’t a “pink” per say but I didn’t have an even number of nudes so I had to push one over…lol. So as I mentioned yesterday, I did a project that involved putting on most of the lipsticks in my stash (sadly I have to report that these weren’t even anywhere close to the amount of lipsticks I own *sigh* BUT at least I truly now know that I DON’T need to buy any more lipsticks) in an attempt to be a guide for those of you looking for new lipstick shades and wanting to see it on. Like I also mentioned, putting on and taking off more than like three lipstick shades HURTS and I did all 50 shades in a matter of hours…lol. It’s one of the reasons why I mostly do lip color swatches on my arms (even that hurts sometimes, too…lol) but in the name of beauty and community, I pushed through it. Thanks to my homey (and former college dorm neighbor) Nas of Nasilele Photography for shooting this—working with her has seriously been one of the best things I could have done for better pictures of myself…lol. She’s taught me so much with how to pose, knowing my angles, etc. that I don’t cringe as much when I see pictures of myself…lol. She has a studio in Brooklyn (and also travels) and is amazing so if you need photos for weddings, kids, head shots, or just because (I do just because stuff with her all the time…lol), you totally need to contact her.

So by the time I started to get to the pinks, my lips had just started to hurt so be mindful of that for any misapplication. I didn’t want to alter any of that in editing them in case it changed the way the lip colors looked.

I also loved doing this because I did find some colors I don’t wear at all that I totally need to put into rotation like MAC Zen Rose Sheen Supreme and Style Curve Lipstick. It also warmed me into wearing pinks more often as I used to gravitate more toward reds and plums.

ANYWAY, enough blabbing, onto the pinks :)

(Oh, one more thing—my bad on the obnoxious “watermark” on these. I actually had an instance where a blogger took like 37 of my blog posts AND my swatch pics and used them on her blog to enter a beauty blogger contest Allure UK was hosting so I threw the @StyleNBeautyDoc on there myself all ignant-like so I get my proper street cred. *pops collar* lol. Consider it my 2013 The Club)

Note: There may be discontinued or limited edition lipsticks in this series but they’re included because sometimes they come back or another color might be very similar so I added them so you have a reference point.

I know you said you don’t like Honeylove but once again you are giving a look like Idris is on the other end of the camera…
And OMG, the eyemakeup in these pics is to die for. I have to go to a wedding in two weeks and I’m trying to figure out what to do with my eyes.

Also, I appreciate the sacrifices you are making to help us all look beautiful!!
