Lucas Papaw Ointment has been a beauty staple of mine for yeaaaaars now. I don’t know if I ever told you guys this, but I’m maaaaaaaad clumsy. Like it doesn’t even make sense how clumsy I am. Then on top of that, the skin on my body can be a little sensitive at times especially when it’s either really hot out or really cold out. Also add on the fact that if I don’t add some form of lubrication in between my thighs (I realize how that sounds…lol), the friction will cause the skin there to get irritated and I’ll look like a leper. This is where Lucas’ Papaw Ointment comes into play for me.

Lucas Papaw Ointment is a local topical application for boils, burns, chafing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites, and nappy rash (nappy meaning diaper…lol). The not so secret ingredient is papaya grown fresh in Queensland, Australia. The base is pharmaceutical grade petroleum jelly and wax. You can see more on ingredients here. The multipurpose ointment was first formulated in 1906 by Dr. T.P. Lucas who used it to treat a number of illnesses and diseases.

Now for me this stuff is a must-have and it seriously amazes me how it seems to cure EVERYTHING. Heat rash? Gone. Insect bite? Itchiness instantly soothed. A cut or abrasion? Practically gone the next day. Seriously, any kind of random irritation I get on my skin is healed by the next day with this stuff. I always make sure I carry it with me when I travel because my skin may react to a change in environment or the local insects there may feast upon my chocolatey skin…lol. It’s also great for dry, cracked lips and thankfully is not super greasy.

I’ve tried Homeoplasmine which is a French multipurpose ointment that does similar things, but I much prefer Lucas Papaw Ointment. Seriously, this stuff is life changing for me.

Bottom line: Great for just about any skin ailment and if you’re like me (clumsy and kinda sensitive body skin), you need to carry this with you.

Price and where to buy: About $12 for a 25g tube. It also comes in two jar sizes and a smaller tube with a lip applicator. Sold at Net-a-Porter.com, New London Pharmacy, and a host of other online retailers.
