The Thing You Better Be Doing Before Bed Or I’m Not Your Friend…

Folks, we spend a lot of time here talking about makeup and skincare and I feel like I’ve done a good job of writing about the importance of a night time skincare routine. I get emails and comments from you guys telling me how something I mentioned helped you (woo hoo! I love emails like that so keep ‘em coming) but we still have more groundwork to cover. In a nutshell, what you do to your skin before hitting the hay will have an effect on the skin you have 20 years from now (that and your daytime routine better contain SPF or I’m going to block you). You can read my all skincare posts here to get up to speed.

But really, we can’t be friends if you’re not taking your makeup off before you go to bed.

You know I love my cleansing oils, but I love to keep you in the know about all sorts of products so for today’s post I’m working with Simple Skincare, the skincare brand dedicated to bringing quality products with an emphasis on more delicate and sensitive skin and the new Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water.

So what’s a micellar water you might ask? I got you!

Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water is an advanced cleansing triple-purified water that requires no rinsing, contains skin-loving ingredients, provides instant hydration, and effectively removes makeup.

I love that I can use Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water to remove makeup without my skin feeling stripped and dry afterwards (yes, it is very possible to have oily skin that gets dehydrated).

WAYS TO USE IT:

There’s so many ways to incorporate this into your skincare regimen—here’s a few ways I liked to use it.

  1. To take makeup off before the gym. I can’t work out with makeup on (um, can we talk about the mess of having foundation dripping off my face while I’m on the treadmill?) so if there’s an instance where I’m wearing a full face before the gym, I dab the Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water onto a cotton pad or two and wipe off all the makeup. I like that my face still felt soft and hydrated after because who’s trying to workout with dry, streaky makeup skin?
  2. As your first step in your nighttime skincare routine. Dab it on your cotton pad and remove your makeup. Then follow with your normal routine of cleansing, treating, and moisturizing.

  4. As a double-cleanse process. Sometimes cleanser alone can’t get the job done which is why I sometimes double-cleanse—even on days when I don’t wear makeup. So after cleansing I’ll pat my skin dry with a towel and then use a cotton pad dipped in Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water to remove any additional traces of residue.
  5. While I strongly suggest getting your full nighttime routine in before bed, I do understand there are nights where you just are too beat (I’m sure moms of little ones can understand as well as those with demanding work schedules, and some of us sliding back in after a night out). For these occasional dire moments, you can stash Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water and some cotton pads next to your nightstand and take your makeup off before plopping down on that pillow. Since no rinsing is required, you won’t have to even get up ;)

And that’s that! I’m loving that such a quality product can be found at the drugstore level. You can find Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water at drugstores nationwide for less than the price of a matinee movie ticket. See simpleskincare.com for locations near you and be sure to #TestTheWater!
