TSABD Edit: NEW L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints METALLICS and MATTES

Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.

OK so if you haven’t tried at least one of the L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints (they come in a gazillion colors), you might want to scoot on over to your local drugstore and check them out namely if you love opaque and super opaque glosses. I’ve done a review on them and even worked with Walgreens earlier this year to do a video tutorial using them. In my eyes, they’re the business.

And I can’t be the only one who thinks they’re the business because L’Oreal just launched two more finishes in the L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints lineup: METALLICS AND MATTES.

L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints METALLICS

I teased in the post about the Maybelline Matte Metallic Lipsticks that I really LOVE the L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints Metallics and wish that the colors that the Maybelline Matte Metallic Lipsticks came in also came in the formula of the Lip Paints Metallics. These are so cool and I really need them to make more than the four shades they have out now. They’re SUPER opaque glosses that are SUPER pigmented and have a metallic finish. These are strong enough to wear on their own, but you can also mix them together for a cool look. In the second half of my Does Powder BEFORE Foundation Work video on my Youtube channel, I’m wearing #334 Smoldering Eclipse with #330 Moon Lust in the center. The camera doesn’t quite pick up all the gorgeousness of the metallic finish, but in person it’s super pretty.

These aren’t marketed as long-wear, but you should get a decent amount of wear time with them depending on how often (and what) you eat or drink. They don’t dry down matte—these will stay in their glossy form so don’t get these confused with liquid lipsticks.

I really, really love these and would love to see L’Oreal do these in a navy blue color with metallic finish, a black with metallic finish, and even a dark green with metallic finish. If you’re reading this L’Oreal, I want my royalties…lol.

I mentioned this in my original review of the L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints, but the wand on these is awesome.

L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints MATTES

I was a lot less enthused about the matte version though. Not saying they’re bad, but I’m just not personally a fan of this type of formula for lip color. These will dry down to a velvet finish so it’s not exactly like a liquid lipstick, but it’s also not like the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid. You’ll get a softer look that what you might expect with liquid lipsticks. You can layer, but you’re not going to get that strong matte look with these. Which of course is totally cool if that’s the look you’re going for.

These come in six shades (at least they do now) and are rosier shades ranging from a light pinky beige to a brick red. These aren’t going to last long but L’Oreal doesn’t claim they will so no lies there…lol. They are super comfy on the lips which they do claim. I’m just personally not a fan. They do what the brand says they will but it’s not my style. If it’s your style, have at it of course.

Note: I only swatch the straight up color when I do lip swatches. I don’t mix shades and I don’t add lip liner even for colors that could use a lip liner because I’m showing you how the lip colors look exactly as they are. I’m personally not a fan of buying a too light nude shade and then using lip pencil to make it workable. (I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it, I’m saying I cannot buy a shade knowing it doesn’t work and knowing I’d have to doctor it up to get it to work—I don’t have the time nor the space…lol). There are good nude lip colors out there for darker skin without having to buy extra product or do extra things to it—they just may not be called out as “nude.” You can check out my nude lip post archives to see some I’ve tried and swatched.

Bottom line: Both of these L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paints formulas do as they claim, but I’m of course team METALLICS. I do need L’Oreal to make more shades of the METALLICS ASAP. The formula is sooo dope!

Price and where to buy: about $9.99 each at drugstores nationwide. Find out where to get them near you or where to buy online here for the METALLICS and here for the MATTES.

Is this the complete post? There are none of the usual swatches or the thumbnails with the color denoted in the corner that regularly accompany your lipstick or beauty product swatches and reviews in. I’m a bit disappointed that I have to watch the video that features studio lighting to just see the names of the colors.

      Hey!

I actually forgot to put the arm swatches in the post earlier. Just so you know I don’t use studio lighting at all—all my videos are shot using natural light as well as all of my pictures are taken in natural light. I also put in a lot of hard work, time, and money into creating these posts so it’s actually disappointing for me to see the word “disappointed” associated with work I put out. Watching the video took one minute, but it took me more than an hour to swatch through all the lip colors and not to mention the time it takes to edit the videos for each collection of lip colors (the day I filmed this there were over 20 shades I swatched) or how much it burns my lips to swatch multiple colors back to back. Not saying this to complain because I love what I do and I love doing this to help people like you, but your comment seems as if you read my blog often (thanks for that!) and I wouldn’t think that the one time you didn’t see swatch pictures and had to watch a one minute video of the lip colors would warrant disappointment. Just want you to see how seeing your comment looks from my side.

The metallics look much better than the mattes. Will have to check this out. I’ve been holding onto a $1 off coupon for a while now.
