Quick Review: NEW Anastasia DIPBROW GEL in 11 Shades (Swatches on Dark Skin)

Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.

Hey there, party people! Let’s get in and get out with this NEW brow launch from the brow goddess herself, Anastasia. I remember maybe about 15 years ago seeing Anastasia on I think an episode of Oprah where the daytime TV queen gushed about the queen of brows. I immediately wanted my brows shaped by her (ohhh, remember when they had Anastasia brow studios at select Sephora stores?) as I just knew it would make my face look its most on-point. To think that the empire of cosmetics we see today started with JUST brow products. And now a new brow product is on the horizon—the brand’s first in three years.

I received NEW Anastasia Dipbrow Gel in a PR mailing. I have always loved the shade variety in Anastasia brow products as it was one of the first brow brands that actually had a good shade match for me (most brands would either have a shade that was too light or one too dark). My brow style preference has gotten fuller over the years, but I’ve loved Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade (in shade Chocolate) with the #12 Anastasia brush (particularly when I need my brows threaded) and Anastasia Brow Wiz (in shade Ebony) though I’ve since switched to L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer as it’s a less expensive dupe for me.

The Dipbrow Gel is a matte full coverage pigment gel that pairs with any Anastasia Beverly Hills brow product and looks great on its own. It’s waterproof, full coverage, and long-wearing. It comes in TWO sizes: a full (4.4g/0.155 oz) and a mini (2.2 g/0.078 oz). Pictured in this post are the full size.

In testing these out, I found that they’re not something I’d use very often in my routine. I’ve used the regular Anastasia Brow Gels in the past especially when I’ve bleached my brows and wanted to tint them with a little color. I don’t often need a brow gel because I don’t have a ton of brow hairs so no need for a gel to keep them in place. I also only need to fill them in slightly which I typically do with a pencil and sometimes I use Dipbrow Pomade if I want a more defined look.

I would say Anastasia Dipbrow Gel is something those with fuller brows that need to be kept in place would appreciate more. I have not tried Glossier Boy Brow, but these look similar especially with the shorter spooly. The major difference I can see without having tried Boy Brow would be in shade selection. Boy Brow comes in 4 shades while Dipbrow Gel comes in 11 shades.

In general when picking a brow product shade, you go about a shade lighter than your hair color, but since you have 11 shades here, you can really play around with the look you want to create. Anastasia posted a chart to help guide you to your shade as well.

I tried out both Chocolate and Auburn here. And yep, I definitely went outside with two different colored brows so I could test it…lol.

I loved the video! Danielle, whatever you are doing, keep on doing it. Your have the most beautiful skin and you GLOW! Your brows are gorgeous too, and I didn’t realize you tried two shades until I went back and re-read your post!

I haven’t tried eyebrow gels myself–my brows are on the super skimpy side so I am more in the market for brow creation rather than taming. I have an Anastasia pencil that I like but the spoolie fell off. I also just got some thin NYX pencils that were about $9 that are supposedly a good dupe for another Anastasia pencil. I have also re-purchased an It Cosmetic product called Build-A-Brow along with their application brush and really like it!

It’s nice that this Anastasia product is offered in 12 shades!
