Beauty Empties Vol 9: The Hair Edition (Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders Daily Moisture Scalp Cream + Olaplex No 3)

Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.

I’ve finished some products recently and will share why they were good to the last drop. Now remember, as I’ve said in previous posts like this, just because I didn’t finish a product doesn’t mean it’s not a good product. I also get a ton of product in from brands so there are products that are amazing but that I don’t get around to finishing because either it’s not something I need to use daily or because I have a gazillion others like it.

Let’s get into this post though…

Also, I didn’t finish all of these at the same time—I save empties so that I have enough to make a decent well-rounded post.

Typically I do these posts and lump all my empties together, but I’ve decided to separate them by category. I will have a skincare one and a makeup one coming up soon—make sure you’re subscribed to this blog so you don’t miss it!

Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders Daily Moisture Scalp Cream

At this point, Head & Shoulders is going to need to start making bigger sizes of these…lol. Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders Daily Moisture Scalp Cream has made my “Products I’ve Finished Recently” list at least three times in the past. THIS STUFF IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH THOUGH. I’ve gone through THREE BOTTLES within the last 3 months.

There have been a lot of misconceptions out there about dry scalp and dandruff (make sure you read this post on some Black Hair Myths Busted by a Black Scientist, this post on why you might actually have dandruff and not just product build-up, and of course this post on Things You NEED to Know About Scalp Health). One thing we’ve been getting wrong is oiling or greasing the scalp—sure it provides temporary relief sometimes, but it doesn’t address the real issue: DANDRUFF.

I use the Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders Daily Moisture Scalp Cream after I wash my hair—it’s easy to apply because of the nozzle. I just section my hair all over and apply it directly to my scalp. Then I’ll use it almost daily when needed. There’s also a Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders Instant Relief Scalp Spray that I love, but I consider that more of an on-demand type of product—like if my hair is braided down and needs some relief—while the scalp cream is more of a daily maintenance product. You can see how I use them in my hair routine by watching the IGTV video below—it showcases how long I keep in the protective style pictured below and takes you from me prepping my hair before the salon to how I maintain the look after seeing my stylist.

Olaplex No 3 Hair Perfector

Olaplex No 3 Hair Perfector is a product my hairstylist Gabrielle Corney recommended for me to use to fortify and strengthen my hair. This isn’t a product where you’ll typically notice a drastic difference after the first use, but over time I feel a difference in how full my hair is. Gabi notices the difference more than I do though. There is still some left in the bottle as you can see from the picture, but after 1-2 uses, this will be finished. I just bought an Olaplex holiday gift set from Sephora that includes some Olaplex shampoo, conditioner, and of course this No 3 repair product. Will keep you posted down the line how it works out for me.
