Yeah, It’s an Outfit Post, Ya’ll

Kudos to all the regular personal style bloggers out there. It’s A LOT of work to take pictures of your style on a regular basis. Especially for me since I have a short attention span and to quote Sweet Brown (who I bet I’ll be finding plenty of opportunities to quote in the next like 40 years) “ain’t nobody got time for that,” when it comes to posing and taking a gazillion pictures to get those few good ones. BUT I do love clothes and getting dressed so when Glam Media and Diet Dr. Pepper asked a series of bloggers (myself included) to write about what makes our style one of a kind, I headed to Brooklyn and went to the person who makes me feel super comfy when she takes my photos, Nas of Nasilele Photography (who by the way shoots THEE cutest family photos, solo photo shoots, engagement shoots and weddings, and just about anything you want to cherish for years to come #message)

So about my style…it definitely evolves and changes typically because I’ve been changing my hair a lot the last few years. Right now I’d say my style is like Gwen Stefani had she been born in southeast Queens…lol. Since I do not have to report to work in a suit anymore, I like to wear things totally opposite of corporate wear. I’m talking camo pants, menswear—like stuff from the mens section (remember my post on surprising places for fab fashion finds?), and I like things to be slightly oversized. I used to be the girl always in 5-inch platforms, but since hitting 30, AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT…lol. I mean, I’ll still wear them if I’m going out, but for sure I leave the house in my flats and the heels don’t go on until I’m within like 10 feet of my destination. But for the most part I like to mix things that you wouldn’t normally think to put together—like how I’m wearing a sweatsuit with beige ankle strap platforms in the pics above…lol. And then to top it off, I’ll always have my go-to makeup look of a bold cheek and bold lip.

Another thing about my style that I find to be unique? If I buy an item and I’m completely enamored with it, expect to see that mess worn 50 billion times. I am SO not one of those people who won’t be seen in something twice. I prefer to work with a smaller edited wardrobe than to have a bunch of stuff (wish I had the same philosophy when it comes to makeup *smh*) so I make sure when I do go shopping, I buy things that I love so much I want to wear it often. I also try to do closet purges (I did one around November and need to do another one really soon) to keep things really simple when it comes to getting dressed.

I was also asked to share my favorite style quotes and after thinking about all the chic things people like Coco Chanel or Rachel Zoe say and instead decided to go another more honest route with…

and…

Because pretty much, these are both me to a tee…lol.

See, I would look like a crazy homeless lady if I was in sweatpants, and people would be throwing change at me.
But you look totally glam in them…before I read the description I was convinced that they were a new style of pants.
