When a brand you love discontinues a product, you have to trust it’s because there’s something better coming. I’ve been a BECCA fan since about 2005 when the Australian brand was only sold at select Sephora stores, Bergdorf Goodman (where I bought my first ever BECCA products) and at the Warren Tricomi at the Plaza Hotel. I was amazed at the shade range and foundation offerings and quickly fell in love with their stick foundation and concealer compact. Fast forward some years and both items were discontinued. WOMP WOMP :/

I’ve been super impressed though with all the foundations they’ve come out with since (see all BECCA reviews here) and now there’s more newness: BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme and BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector.

Here’s the official scoop…

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector

becca

This full-coverage crème corrector completely eradicates under eye darkness by brightening and evening skin tone. Truly unique in color and formula, BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector is backlighting for your concealer.

Infused with ultra-fine light-reflecting illuminators, this rich, luminescent crème won’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles and preps skin for smooth, even concealer coverage.

Coverage: Medium-Full
Formula: Cream
Finish: Luminous
Concern: Dullness, Dark Circles, Dark Spots
Skin type: All

This formula is free of: Parabens and Fragrance

Stylist Tips
The Under Eye Brightening Corrector can be worn under concealer to brighten and correct under eye darkness or over concealer for a more intense luminosity.

Usage
Using your ring finger or a concealer brush, pat the Under Eye Brightening Corrector underneath the eye and gently blend. Then follow with concealer application; corrector ‘backlights’ your concealer to completely eradicate darkness.

If you’re more concerned about fine lines around the eyes, apply your concealer first and follow with the Under Eye Brightening Corrector. This application method will act like spot lighting for your concealer and reflect light to draw attention away from your fine lines.

To prevent product from drying out, keep cap tightly closed.

I have to admit I was thinking this was going to be an ash fest under my eyes, but BECCA got it right with this universal shade. I loved the extra brightening boost it gave my under eye area and even tried a little on my actual lids (did my own experimenting—that’s not really how BECCA seems to advise how to use the product). I would say be careful with the color of the concealer you use—if you’re already using a concealer that’s about 2 shades lighter than your skin tone to brighten, adding this might over-exaggerate the look so proceed with caution.

Shade Finder
Stylist Tip: Select a concealer 1-2 shades lighter if applying to the under eye area. To best conceal redness and imperfections, select the shade that matches your skin tone to blend in with foundation.

I LOVE how creamy these are and the coverage is amazing. I use shade Chestnut for under the eye and it also works for a dark spot I have on my chin from a hormonal pimple. I can’t use the shade to conceal elsewhere as it’s too light. Treacle also works under my eyes if I want more dramatic brightening but for the most part I’d use Chestnut (see what other shades I wear in foundation and concealer here).

There’s 12 shades in total (you can see all shade descriptions with undertones here) and I asked to be sent the four deepest shades (I got Toffee instead of Coffee—Coffee is deeper than Toffee):

Toffee

(medium to light beige tan)

Syrup

(dark golden warm/red)

Treacle

(golden brown, warm)

Chestnut

(warm brown, golden)

Shade descriptions are directly from the brand.

Wear is amazing. I have some fine lines under my eyes and the concealer didn’t settle there nor did it crease. I’m pretty much in love. I just wish there were more shades so I had one that matched my skin for covering areas other than my under eye.

I have terrible eye bags and I’m afraid those sparkles will just illuminate them! I have been curious about the under eye concealer on the sephora website, but last time I checked it was sold out!

I thought that, too but once I put the concealer over it, the sparkles disappeared. Maybe try it out in store when it’s back in stock at Sephora?

The result looks pretty nice! Doesn’t look too made up or anything either. I like it

Yes, these concealers are pretty awesome—just wish there were more shade options.

The under eye brightening concealer is a must have! I’ll get this during the Chic sale. It’s like the rock star highlighter for the under eyes!

how do you think these compare to kevyn aucoin sensual skin enhancer? or do they compare at all?

      Hey Juanita!

I don’t think they compare much. From what I remember, the KA SSEs are creamier and can be manipulated easily to be used as foundation or layered to be used as concealer. These *could* be manipulated to double as foundation, but maybe just not as easily as the SSE. Plus I would go easy on using this as a foundation since they’re used for brightening—not sure how that would look all over especially on camera. This review is two years old though and I don’t have the BECCA product anymore nor do I know if they’ve since made any enhancements/changes to the formula.
