My Style is Casual. Dassit.

You know, one of the really good things about getting older is your ability to give effs dwindles greatly. It’s a beautiful thing to walk around existing, doing you, and not giving a WHAT to what people may think of you. The older you get, the more you get settled into having no f—s to give.

Now this doesn’t mean you just stop caring altogether—you still care of course, but you’re more comfortable with being YOU. You use filters more—you block out what isn’t really for you and focus on what is. That’s where I am kinda with my style. If I were to really look back, my core personal style has always been more about casual looks—camo pants, stuff I borrowed (and never gave back) from the men’s section, ugly-cute shoes, stuff you’d find at Urban Outfitters and Gap, and then I like to switch it up from the neck up with big hair and a beat face. But I get distracted a lot because I follow like ten million fashion bloggers and I have a shopping problem and I sometimes want to try different looks. Especially since I’m getting back to my pre-freelance weight. I mean, I know what works on my body type and what doesn’t (sometimes I know and don’t care…lol. Like I know closer-fitting clothing looks better on me but sometimes I wanna go super relaxed and oversized fitting) but sometimes I try to be more girly in style or I wanna be all bodycon when at my core I’m just casual. So that’s where I am. I’ve been experimenting with my style a bit since losing weight—buying a whole bunch of things online and then getting disappointed when everything is a bust until I was like “Look, I’m just going to be happy with the small amount of clothes I love and just keep wearing them over and over.” Maybe. LOL.

This outfit was something I just threw on to film and photo some upcoming projects at Nas’ photography studio. Since filming was from the neck up—it really didn’t matter what I had on. Even though some adjustments can be made (like the t-shirt is a little too flowy for my body type) this outfit is SO me down to the leopard print “Birks.”
