LA Girl Cosmetics recently launched some new items (or at least they’re new to me) on their site and I decided to scoop them up out of my own curiosity and of course to review them here. I got LA Girl Pro Contour Cream in Medium-Deep and Deep; LA Girl Pro Counter Powder in Medium-Deep and Deep; and LA Girl Just Blushing in Just Love (a bright pink) and Just for Fun (a bright orange).

So in both the LA Girl Pro Contour Cream & Powder, the Deep was the closest shade to work for me. I don’t normally use a cream to contour (I used to use a contour cream and then set it with a contour powder in a similar color, but now I just do the powder) but for the sake of testing everything out, I used both the cream and the powder.

Shade-wise these worked out nicely for me and though they won’t replace my love of my Cover FX Total Cover Cream and Mineral Powder products I use now, these will definitely be in my travel beauty bag. Performance-wise they blend in well and have great wear—I didn’t notice any fading or creasing while testing it out, but that experience can vary by person depending on things like if you have any lines, how deep the lines are, etc. (As an aside, if you have fine lines you might want to use a primer to help smooth things out and prevent your makeup from creasing and settling into your lines).

I think what might be the only downside of the LA Girl Pro Contour Cream and the LA Girl Pro Contour Powder would be shade selection—they seem to come in a wide range of shades, but if you’re someone in between shades, it might be hard to match for you. And like I always say with contour kits, they can be amazing if all the shades included work out for you, but if not it may make more sense to buy a separate contour and highlight shade.

Bottom line these are a very good value if you have a good shade match and of course if you can find them in your local beauty supply store. ULTA sells *some* LA Girl products but that can vary by location. I just buy online from the LA Girl site so I don’t have to run from store to store.

Video Demo:

In the video demo below I’m using the LA Girl Pro Contour Cream in Deep and the LA Girl Pro Contour Powder in Deep. I tried using the highlight shade in the LA Girl Pro Contour Cream in Medium-Deep for under my brows, but it was too light. I wound up adding the highlight shade from the Deep cream kit over it. I also only grabbed my travel makeup bag before filming (I film videos at my friend’s photography studio which is like a 30 min drive from my house) and didn’t have all my makeup brushes with me so I wound up having to improvise with some things like applying the contour cream with my beautyblender and the contour powder with a brush that was too dense and applied too much product…lol. I fixed it, but you’ll see some extra steps in the video that I wouldn’t normally have to do.

There’s no sound on these so feel free to watch openly…lol.

LA Girl Just Blushing was also a hit. These come in an array of shades, but I only picked out two: Just Love (a bright pink) and Just for Fun (a bright orange). These were really pigmented and performed well—there was some fading but I still had blush on by the end of the day. These are also a good value if you don’t already own brighter colored blushers.

Just Blushing is $7 each at lagirlusa.com.

Note: I don’t normally apply as much blush only to blend it in, but I wanted to make sure you could see the color show up in the video.
