Another day, another foundation review! I ain’t mad though—I love trying new foundations. I need to know what’s out there so I can report back to you fine folks. I was recently sent NEW Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation for review consideration and gave it a whirl.

Now if you also like to watch videos, I did a “using this for the first time on camera” demo on my Youtube channel so make sure you check it out here AND make sure you’re subscribed so you see more of my amazing videos!

What it is:
A 15-hour, long-wearing, oil-free, and transfer-resistant liquid foundation with a matte finish and weightless, medium-to-full coverage.

What it does:
Get lasting wear and all the coverage, without the weight. This oil-free foundation is formulated with Skin Fusion Technology to seal it into place for 15 hours of high performance, comfortable wear that’s transfer-, sweat-, humidity-, and water-resistant. Coated pigments glide on to create buildable, medium-to-full color that beautifully evens out your skintone with color that stays true and wears evenly. The matte finish is never dull, flat, or cakey, and it minimizes imperfections while silky fine powders help control oil immediately and throughout the day. Weightless texture looks, fits and feels like a second skin. It’s ideal for all skin types, especially normal to oily, and it’s available in a wide array of shades.

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation feels completely weightless and has medium coverage that can be buildable to make it full coverage. It covered my discoloration well as well as my brand new big ole dark spot on my forehead. It blended well using my beautyblender but I also think it’s amazing applied with a brush like the Sephora Flawless Airbrush Brush which is the same brush I used to apply the NYX Total Control Foundation which this Laura Mercier foundation reminds me of.

The last Laura Mercier foundation I reviewed had way more deeper shades than this one does, so many of you reading this may not find a good shade match in this formula. Shade 6N1 Truffle was the closest match for me (see which other foundation shades I wear here) but it was a bit warm for me—not a big deal in the summer as I sometimes do get redder in undertone, but this *could* be too warm other times without some tweaking. I have neutral undertones but sometimes I can get away with something that leans *a little* on the warm/red side.

Performance-wise though this foundation is the bomb! It covers well and still gives skin a very skin-like appearance. I didn’t make it to see if it lasted 15 hours (mama has to shower and go to bed, honey!) but at 10 hours without touching-up it was still look okay.

Bottom line: Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation is a great foundation if you’re looking for a liquid that covers very well yet looks and feels weightless AND lasts long. BUT there are too few deeper shades and since I specialize in makeup for deeper skin, I’m guessing a majority of you reading this have a darker skin tone like me as well. If you’re looking for a foundation that covers well (well, you can actually customize coverage with this one) and feels weightless that has more options in the deeper spectrum, check out the NYX Total Control Foundation.

This was also sent to me for review consideration. I actually really like it. It gives me a smooth semi-matte finish that doesn’t make me look casket-sharp and it gently blurs my pores without making me look like I hit the Facetune app too hard. I’ve used it with both the Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation and my usual Cover FX Total Cover Cream and it works well with both. My makeup still looks smooth even after 8+ hours of wear and it helps to control oil somewhat (my T-zone was defiant, but with some touch-ups it would have been fine).

Bottom line: I do wish Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in Medium/Deep came in the smaller container like the lighter one does, but alas. I really like the way it performed and how it made my makeup look. I do like A LOT of setting powders though so while I like this one a lot, I also like others a lot, too (see more Powder reviews here). I say get a sample to see how it works out with your routine before plunging to buy the full product.
