Sunglasses for Your Face Shape

sunglasses

Summer’s almost here, but before you buy a new pair of shades, check out this guide to make sure you’re getting the right pair for your face shape!

DETERMINE YOUR FACE SHAPE: Pull your hair off your forehead with one hand, look into a mirror and trace the outline of your face on the glass with lipstick. The outline you’ve created is your face shape!

oval

Oval: Consider yourself lucky if you have an oval shaped face. Because this face shape is considered the ideal for it’s symmetry (not to say you’re face isn’t ideal if it’s not oval) you can wear almost any kind of sunglasses.

heart

Heart: To balance out the wideness in the forehead and the narrowness of the chin, go for frames like aviators where the “volume” is at the bottom of the frame.

square

Square: To create more curves for your angular face, go for round frames.

rectangular

Rectangular: To balance this face shape, go for sunglasses with wide frames.

round

Round: This face shape should reach for oval sunglasses.

diamond

Diamond: Since this face shape has both a narrow forehead and a narrow jaw line, go for wide, oversized sunglasses.

triangular

Triangular: Go for frames that have more volume at the top of the frame to balance your prominent jaw.

Tips for all face shapes:
* Scale is key: if you have large facial features, avoid small, delicate sunglasses and vice versa for smaller facial features
* Color: Warm toned chicas will want to go for warm colored frames (i.e. brown, gold, army green, yellow) while Cool toned girlies should reach for cool colored frames (i.e. silver, blue, black)
