Make Up For Ever Uplight Face Luminizer Gel in #31 Review, Swatches, and Pics

Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.

One of Make Up For Ever’s latest product launches is their Uplight Face Luminizer Gel. It’s described as an oil-free, luminizing gel that highlights the face for an ultra-natural glow. The folks at Make Up For Ever sent over shade #31 (a sparkling blue-pink) for review consideration.

Like many multitasking MUFE products, Uplight has many uses. You can dab some on your cheeks for a pretty but subtle luminous look, mix some into your liquid foundation for an all over glow, on your décolletage, and on your legs when you’re wearing cute summer dresses and skirts. For $29 you do get a good amount of product, but a bit too much product dispenses even when you just lightly press the top of the container. This is fine if you plan on using a lot of the product, but for just little touches on the cheekbones, it’s a bit too much. I guess this can be solved by maybe getting a small plastic container like the ones I use in my kit, but if you’re not a makeup artist that might seem like a bit much. Hopefully the next batch will have tighter dispensers. *crosses fingers*

I don’t use luminizing products often, but will incorporate Uplight into my summer makeup looks more because the pink shimmer from #31 makes me feel playful and childlike…lol. It even photographs pretty well as you can see from the pics below.

#31 has a considerable amount of shimmer in it so I wouldn’t recommend using it on any area where texture is an issue (large pores, wrinkles, etc.), but Uplight does come in several formulas (dewy and pearly in addition to sparkling).

Uplight comes in eight shades total which you can see here. Next time you’re at Sephora, play around with it or even ask for a sample so you can try it out at home.

Have you tried Uplight before? What did you think?

How do I know which one would be best for my skin color? My shade is really dark… Just a tiny bit lighter than dark chocolate.

Hey Patrice! This one (#31) would look good on you, but it depends on which look you’re going for since they come in different finishes. Typically very deep complexions look great in makeup with cool undertones so go for ones with pinkish or silver tones.

      Hope this helps!
