NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Review

Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.

I’ve never really been so gung-ho about tinted moisturizers–aside from MAC Select Tint which was my HG base product for years but it’s been long discontinued. Sure I LOVE Laura Mercier’s oil-free version, but most times TMs don’t provide enough coverage for me and doing the whole extra concealer bit seems to defeat the easy breeziness of a tinted moisturizer. Nonetheless, I still scooped up a bottle of NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($42) during one of my many trips to Sephora.

NARS is a brand I really love because whether you’re very fair or very deep in complexion, there’s something in the line that will suit your coloring. Even if you can’t find your shade in the extensive range of foundations, there’s certainly a blush or eyeshadow that definitely will work for you. I’m guessing they’re testing out this whole tinted moisturizer thing as only nine shades come in the new line. Perhaps if it all works out more shades will be available, but using model Ajuma Nasanyana in the promo ads definitely had me thinking there would be like 15 shades. Ah well.

I got the deepest shade Polynesia which just slightly matched my skin. The coverage on this is very light–which is obvious for a tinted moisturizer. I still needed concealer to cover dark spots and I wasn’t too thrilled about the finish until I set it with MAC’s new Mineralize Loose Powder. That’s when the radiance and luminosity came in. Perhaps if I had zero dark spots, I’d be a little more thrilled, but overall NARS Tinted Moisturizer is a “meh” for me.

Bottom line: If you have pretty decent skin and don’t need much in terms of color correction and prefer very light coverage, give this a whirl. I imagine some well-toned Australian model with already fantastic skin loving this.

Where to Buy: Nordstrom, Sephora, Beauty.com, Barneys, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue

I actually just tried this moisturizer yesterday at Sephora and it was very pretty in the store. Now I will say you will definitely need a concealer because it is very sheer, although I didn’t buy it I did receive a sample to come home with and see what I could come up with by using concealer and blush.I don’t own the MAC Loose Powder so we shall see how I really like it.

I love how my-girl-honest this review reads!! I recently started using MAC’s TM for just an easy everyday face but on those sleepy looking days concealer is needed.

Thanks! I sooo wanted to try MAC’s TM that replaced my beloved Select Tint, but the deepest shade is too light. Ah well. MUFE HD to the rescue…lol

    Hey Danielle!

I think I have to try this one! I don’t do any concealing so this might be great for me!! Do you think that the Laura Mercier TM lighter in texture than this one??

      Hey girl!

I’d say LM’s TM definitely has more coverage than this NARS TM :)
