It’s Officially Summer. Don’t Ruin Your Fun Worrying About Your Looks

Jennifer-Lopez-Vogue-1

It’s now officially summer, folks. Long days, exposed skin, and fun summer trips will all either envelope us in everlasting joy or cause us to hibernate for fear of judgement on how we look outside of 50 million winter coat layers depending on how you play it out. Yes there will be a plethora of hard bodies prancing in front of us—people who worked really hard to get those bodies and some who were given a fast metabolism. And no, this isn’t one of those ‘let’s shame the toned bodies and pretty faces posts.’ Nope. I’m not here to tell you how good-looking people don’t really lead better lives or quote something about “real women” and their bodies. What I am going to say is that life is way too short for you to not really enjoy yourself on vacation or to not wear something revealing in this heat just because you feel some sort of way about your looks. Because that just sucks.

And yes, maybe this is also a note to myself as I head over to Miami to not lament over wishing I brought a certain outfit or my body not being “right” yet. But I know how it feels to be too into your self-criticisms to really enjoy yourself.

You will not be in your head about how you hate your thighs or there’s too many breakouts on your cheeks or that your hair doesn’t look right. NOPE. You will also not constantly compare yourself to other women. You will go out there and conquer summer and have fun. All outside opinions be damned.

And just so you know this goes for all seasons, too ;)
