I was actually a bit stumped on how to begin this blog post because when you are writing
about the debuting makeup collection from a woman who’s been called “the most influential makeup artist in the WORLD” by Vogue, your hands tend to shake a little.
Pat McGrath, best known for her bold and painstakingly detailed work, has collaborated
with some of the largest fashion and cosmetic powerhouses like Prada, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. In 2004 she was named the Global Creative-Design Director of Proctor & Gamble where she remains today as the head of Max Factor and Covergirl. This fall the iconic make artist and beauty innovator will preview her first limited edition release of Gold 001 as a part of her new platform, Pat McGrath Labs, which is set to launch in late 2016.
“We’re doing this in a very untraditional way,” says McGrath. “With Pat McGrath Labs, I’m now able to bring innovation to the public almost instantly. When I used GOLD 001 for the first time at the Spring 2016 Prada Runway Show, the obsession began and everyone was asking me about it. So it’s such a thrill for me now to be able to make it available just one month later.”
So what is Gold 001 exactly? According to McGrath, Gold 001 looks like pure metal, foil, gilding, brilliance. It is a highly malleable formula not meant to be feature-specific like traditional makeup. It will come to the consumer in a gold foil bag that contains the pigment, its tools- a spatula, mixing liquid and a second life container all packed in sequins. McGrath encourages experimentation and fun when using this product. She wants the user to break the rules as the packaging advises: “USE WITHOUT CAUTION- Requires unrestrained play and a reckless attitude.”

Pat McGrath Labs GOLD 001 will be available starting at 12pm on Thursday, October 29th at PatMcGrath.com and will retail for $40.

Excellent post! The product looks interesting. I wish we could reserve it, or pre-order online. I would love to try it; but I hate when they launch collections at noon during the work week. Seriously. What about the working women/lady? I really hope to score one for my personal collection.
