The NEW Lightweight Blurring Moisturizer That Makes Your Makeup Look Even Better and MORE

So by now you’ve probably heard that the top secret moisturizer that I was testing is Olay Whips. If you have NO CLUE what I’m talking about, follow your girl on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook—it all went down there. But anyway, I participated in a fun campaign that allowed me to try what was then an unbranded moisturizer. I was given NO background info, no press release, no ingredients—nothing. I was asked to share my honest thoughts and feedback on social media, and then about a week into all of this, the branded product arrived!

I have to say it was so much fun trying out a product without knowing anything about it. I sometimes try to do this when I review products—like the first time I test it out, I’ll try not to read the press release so that I don’t have that info in the back of my mind, then I’ll read it after trying the product once and then will continue to test it out. I obviously can’t do this with every product because some products do require me to read the intended directions and I also need to know about ingredients, but it was cool to try Olay Whips without knowing exactly what it was. I have to say everything I experienced with the product without knowing any background info wound up being exactly what the product said it would do. It was VERY lightweight which I love—I have oily skin and – while of course – oily skin needs moisture (this is a point I like to drill into you guys every chance I get: oily skin STILL NEEDS MOISTURIZER). I also don’t like for my moisturizer to be heavy and sit on top of my skin. Olay Whip sinks right in, feels weightless, hydrates well, and also gave a nice blurring action that made my skin look even better on its own or with makeup.

Now there are three different Olay Whips lines—I tried the Olay Luminous Whip moisturizer, which in addition to being very lightweight but hydrating and blurring the pores, also helps to even the skin tone over time. So far I love that I can wear it on its own to give my skin a slightly blurred and even smoother look when I’m not wearing makeup. It works in nicely with my other skincare, too, so no need to switch anything out or do anything different.

There’s also Olay Regenerist Whip which is also lightweight, hydrates well, and has that blurring action but also helps with wrinkles and other texture issues. The third formula is the Olay Total Effects Whip which in addition to being lightweight, hydrating, and blurring, is great for those who need extra hydration. Each formula has a matte finish and also comes with an SPF version for the daytime as well. You can find out more about which formula is right for you here.

There was a lot of hype surrounding this launch and I actually think it’s warranted. Olay is making groundbreaking moves in the masstige (mass market prestige) skincare category and I’m here for it. This is a great moisturizer for my errand-running days where I don’t wear any makeup as well as for the days when I’m dolled up with makeup on.

I would like to try out the Luminous Whips. I need help in the skin tone evening department as I have a problem chin area. Thank you for sharing your honest opinion in this post.

      Hey Natasha!

You’re welcome! One thing to know about getting a more even skin tone is you have to consider how long you’ve had the discoloration. If it’s recent, a product like this in conjunction with a spot treatment will help with consistent use over time. If you’ve had the discoloration for awhile and looking for dramatic results, a product like this can help because you of course need a daily moisturizer, but you should also see a dermatologist for something “stronger.”

Are you still using this? I have large pores but also light wrinkles. I’m 45 so don’t know which formula to use. I definitely want the best ‘blurring’ effect for pores and wrinkles.

      Hi Mabel,

I try out a lot of products so whether or not I still use something doesn’t mean a product isn’t great—it just means I try a lot of products and can’t use them all at once or sometimes I don’t need the product anymore.

If you have large pores and wrinkles, in addition to a good moisturizer, you might want to look into exfoliating if you aren’t already—whether manual or chemical. A good retinol might be great in your routine to help even your skin texture. This Olay Whipped moisturizer family (there’s three kinds for different needs—you can go on their site via the link in this post to see which one works for you) is great for giving a blurred appearance, but you still want to have the “heavy lifting” done via things like acids, retinol, etc.
