Celebrity Looks for Less for Back to School (Check Out My Segment on CBS’ “The Couch!”)

This morning I had a seven minute segment on CBS’ new show on WLNY TV10/55 “The Couch” showcasing celebrity looks for less for back to school. You know how kids can be very particular about looking like their favorite celebs, so I pulled items from H&M, JCPenney, and TJ Maxx/Marshalls but made the focus on affordable fashion. It was a lot of work making appointments to go to each store to pull the coolest items each store had. The criteria I set for it was pretty strict, too: it had to be affordable, durable, and items that tweens and teens would think were cool. And the celebs in question? Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Peyton List, Willow Smith, and Mindless Behavior. I think I did pretty good! What do you think?

I even jumped in with my own “back to school” high-low look featuring an H&M motorcycle jacket and tank, iJeans by Buffalo jeans from JCPenney, and Miu Miu pumps.

And of course I had to add in beauty, so to help the kids get these celebrity looks, we used Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade (for smooth Rihanna-like styles), TIGI Bed Head Manipulator (to add texture to the hair for Willow Smith and Justin Bieber-like styles), and then of course the cutest and most affordable way to update your look: Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips ($7.99)—you stick them on, file off the excess, and within seconds you’ve got an awesome new nail design. Because back to school can get a little “germy”, I love Bath & Body Works Pocketbacs anti-bacterial hand gel ($2) because they easily fit in your kid’s pocket or bookbag and they work great for adults, too. I usually stash a few in my glove compartment in my car :)

Here’s some pics including some from “behind the scenes”

How attractive…lol.

Thanks SO much to Tatyana, Courtney, Giana, Errolyn, and Ajani for being such great models! Thanks so much to their parents for allowing me to use them and for bringing them to both the fitting and the segment. Special thanks to my buds Nas and Lakisha for helping me get all the kids.

Many, many thanks to H&M, JCPenney, TJ Maxx/Marshalls, Sally Hansen, Motions, TIGI Bed Head, and Bath & Body Works for being so helpful throughout my prep for the segment and sending along the cool items you saw featured on the show. If you want to see prices for the items, click here.

    LOL at Black Justin Bieber…

Oh, please tell me what makeup you had on…really curious about the eyes and know you had some blush popped on.

You look good on TV, very telegenic. Those ladies next to you should be a little nervous.

I ALWAYS love reading your comments, Andrea! Thank you!!!

I had on MUFE HD foundation, a few colors from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette with MUFE #92 under the lower lash line (although you can’t see it on the clip), Red Cherry lashes, and one of the blushes in the Sleek MakeUP Blush by 3 kit. On my lips I did Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick #287N with a Milani Crystal Gloss on top (really wanted to wear red but it doesn’t always read nice on TV with certain lighting…lol).

First, you are very beautiful in the screen. You have a natural beauty which illuminates. You did a good job.The looks are chosen well: young, trendy and affordable.
