NYC Eats: Megu Tribeca

Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.

It’s Restaurant Week in NYC! Until February 10th you can enjoy some of the best dining in the world at a fixed price of $24.07 for lunch and $35 for dinner. As any New Yorker over the age of 25 might tell you, forget nightlife, the food is where it’s at in NYC.

Anyway, you know I’m anywhere there’s a table setting, so I took full advantage of Restaurant Week last night at Megu in Tribeca. My girls Lexi of CurlsCoilsandKinks.com and Adrienne of MeMyHairandtheCity.com were in town from Atlanta and I forcefullygently insisted that we should go.

I had the Crispy Shrimp “Kanzuri” Cream Sauce, Kobe “Kagero” Sirloin Steak, and Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Ice Cream. Though I try my best to stay away from fried foods, the Crispy Shrimp was light and tasty enough that I didn’t feel too guilty. And of course since I try my best to refrain from overeating the fried stuff, I totally had to also order the Parmesan fries *smh*. Good thing the portion was sizable so we shared two orders with our appetizers.

What I was really looking forward to was the Kobe “Kagero” Sirloin Steak. OMG—so when you order it they don’t ask you how you would like it prepared—but with reason. The steak comes out on fire cooking stones and you determine right at your seat how you want it. Don’t worry if you’re like me and can’t have any extra seconds added onto food prep time, because even if you like it well-done, it cooks quickly on the stones. The meat is sooooooo tender and juicy. OMG *Homer Simpson drool*

Seriously, if I could, I’d eat this steak everyday.

Great way to end a great meal ;)

Definitely try to get to Megu if you’ve never been. Outside of the Restaurant Week menu, you definitely want to be prepared to spend as the regular menu can be quite pricey.

The food was SO good, Stephanie! Drive up—how far are you in CT? I drove to I think New Haven and it took me about 2 hours—ok now that I think about it a 2 hour drive may not be worth it…lol. Unless you restaurant hop all day…lol.

        Hey Danielle!

I am exactly one hour away from NYC without traffic. If I drive into upper Eastside in Manhattan one hour (hit 71st street) so yeah, the driving is not so much the problem. It’s toting the kids in busy NYC. :/

That steak looks amazing! I’ve already gone to Smith & Wollensky and Kittichai for Restaurant Week and had steak both times. I said I was going to lay off the red meat after that, but I may need to check out Megu. I’ve never had my steak served on a flaming stone before. Mmmmm.

      hey!!!

Thanks for asking because I totally realized I forgot to put the address in the post…lol. I just updated the post with the address, but it’s at 62 Thomas St in Tribeca. I drove (there was parking on the street right around the corner since it was a rainy Thursday night), but I believe the 1 train goes down there as well as maybe the A/C/E line. I’d check hopstop.com first though..lol. And YES you need to be there! lol
