What do you get when Motions Hair brings some of the most awesome bloggers and journalists from NYC and Atlanta and sticks them in a party bus traveling from Manhattan to Brooklyn on a Tuesday night? You get a night of unbelievable amounts of fun, laughter, and jubilee.

Motions is celebrating the launch of their new Straight Finish Heat Styled System, a 3-step haircare plan infused with keratin (the non-chemical kind) and Shea butter to nourish the curls and prep them for thermal styling. Many of us with curly hair are particularly nervous about heat styling as we want to be able to bounce back to our curls, but Straight Finish promises to allow us to snap back. I styled my hair straight (okay and shaved the right side off…lol) with Straight Finish for the concert and will be reporting back on my snap back soon ;)

Now back to Tuesday night.

So I sashayed down to 34th street to meet up with the Motions team as well as a host of my NYC buds which included Christina from LoveBrownSugar.com, Jessica and Andrea from GlamazonsBlog.com, Felicia from ThisThatBeauty.com, Ty from GorgeousinGrey.com, Eileen from MissWhoeverUR.com, Julee from Huffington Post Black Voices, Danielle from Hello Beautiful, Danielle from StyleBlazer.com, Victoria from MadameNoire.com, Melshary from Youtube, and my girls Lexi from LexiwiththeCurls.com and Taren Guy who with me make out the trio of Motions Signature Style Squad (you’ll hear more about this later—so many cool things happening this year that involves all of you, too—stay tuned to Motions Twitter and Facebook for updates in the meantime). We hoped on the party bus and sipped champagne and danced to Rihanna to get amped for the concert as we learned more about Straight Finish.

First stop, Ursula Stephen the Salon located at 99 Lafayette in Fort Greene Brooklyn. SO happy for Ursula and all her success—as you know she’s the force behind some of Hollywood’s hottest hair moments including helping transition Rihanna from Little Miss Sunshine to the fashion rockstar she is today, Ciara, Marsha Ambrosious, Taraji P. Henson, Solange, and many more. Her salon is SO cute and swank—the walls are decorated with the dozen of magazine covers in which she styled Rihanna’s hair.

After hitting the red carpet, we hopped back on the bus and headed to Barclays! We entered through the swank VIP entrance where we were greeted by Barclays staff and ushered to our party suite. Motions had a delicious dinner ready for us to indulge in…steak, crab cakes, lobster macaroni and cheese, stuffed baked potatoes—I mean I literally licked my plate clean (while looking over my shoulder to make sure no one was looking…lol).

And then Rihanna hit the stage. I’ve seen her perform a handful of times including once at Irving Plaza when “Umbrella” first started to gain traction on the airwaves so it was great to see her evolve. Rihanna as a headlining act is quite entertaining—the girl gives face, costume, voice, and dance—boy can this woman DANCE! We all went crazy to her hits like “Birthday Cake”, “Where Have You Been?”, “We Found Love” and more. Then Motions surprised us all with our own tubes of MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick. We all rushed to reapply and continued to party and sing until the concert ended. I swear I kept wishing Rihanna would come back on stage after she said goodnight. I kept grabbing towards the stage like a lost puppy…lol.

After the night was over Motions also sent us home with a fab gift bag that included this awesome snapback from Rihanna’s River Island collection. A better time could NOT have been had. Thanks so much to Motions Hair for such a magical night!

Outfit-wise I wore a BCBG blazer, OBEY tank from Urban Outfitters (men’s section), vegan leather H&M pants, and my leopard print Miu Miu pumps. I was having so much fun I forgot to get a full-length picture…lol.

Stay tuned for my thoughts on Straight Finish and how it held up throughout all that jumping and sweating at the concert…lol. If you want to give Straight Finish a whirl, you can find the products at Walmart and Target (find locations here) or at drugstore.com.
