My Long Drawn Out Thoughts on the Clarisonic Smart Profile

I’ve been team Clarisonic for the last four years or so. When the brand sent me the very first one I’d ever tried, I wasn’t at first convinced that it was something I *needed* until I started to use it more and more. Then I got turned out…lol. Since then I’ve tried just about every single Clarisonic brush and even have a guide on which brush head is right for which skin type and if I go for a bit without using it, I definitely notice a difference in my skin. So when the Clarisonic folks came out with the Clarisonic Smart Profile brush which boasted quite a number of cool updates from the last device, I had to get firsthand experience. (Smart Profile was sent via the brand for review consideration)

So first things first, you can’t just waltz into Sephora and buy the Clarisonic Smart Profile. As of me peeking on their website about two minutes ago, it’s only sold by physicians and spas. It’s a professional grade device after all, but can still be used by us laypeople—you just need to visit a doc or skincare professional who sells it to get one.

The Stats

Here’s some of the main new features of the Smart Profile:

RE-IMAGINED for a smarter, more customizable cleanse.
RE-DESIGNED with a more intuitive user interface for easier use.
RE-ENGINEERED for superior results and extended usage.

Engineered to adjust to different skin needs.

HEAD-TO-HANDLE COMMUNICATION

Smart Profile is enabled with RFID technology, allowing the brush head to communicate directly to the device. The Smart Brush Head automatically engages specific protocols to adjust timing and power for an optimal, customized sonic cleanse.

So while previous Clarisonic devices are said to get the skin 6x cleaner than manual cleansing, the Smart Profile boasts an impressive 11x cleaner attribute which for those of us who wear makeup is VERY good to know. It also has 30x the power to remove skin damaging pollution from the skin than manual cleansing. The Smart Profile means business, folks.

As with all Clarisonic cleansing systems, the Smart Profile comes with some deluxe samples of Clarisonic skincare products you can use with the brush OR you can use your own products. If you’re using a cleansing oil, it’s best to use the cleansing oil first to remove makeup and then use your regular cleanser with the Clarisonic.

Smart Brush Heads

The Smart Profile comes with a Smart Brush Head which together optimizes your cleansing experience.

A unique feature of the Smart Profile device is that it includes smart brush heads, which are individually programmed with protocols that automatically engage when the device is powered on. A smart brush head can be recognized by the “smart” indicator that illuminates when it is attached to the device and running in smart mode.

Clarisonic now also offers RFID standard brush heads exclusively for sale by skincare professionals.

I tried out the Smart Brush Head when I initially got the device but found it a bit “rough” on my skin. I endured it for about a week before I had to just switch to my regular Deep Pore Brush. By the way the Smart Profile works with every brush head the brand makes.

My Results

I’ve been using the Clarisonic Smart Profile off and on since late June/very early July and have noticed slightly smoother and more radiant skin. I already have pretty decent skin, but prior to using it I would notice little teeny breakouts here and there and my skin wasn’t always as vibrant as it usually is. For me the main reason to use a Clarisonic would be for the deep cleansing. Since I wear makeup regularly AND live in a congested city (hello, environmental damage), I want to make sure I get it all off and deep cleaning with the Clarisonic 2-3 times a week allows my skincare products to better penetrate my skin thus helping them work more effectively.

One thing I REALLY appreciated is that the Clarisonic Smart Profile stayed charged MUCH longer than any other Clarisonic I’ve tried. I hate that dreaded moment when I’m all ready to fire up my device only to realize I forgot to charge it…lol. And sometimes they would lose charge even when I wasn’t using them for a while. I haven’t charged the Smart Profile in WEEKS and it’s still good to go (plus there’s thankfully a battery life indicator on the device to let you know how much juice is left).

There’s also four speed settings so you can customize your cleansing experience. I typically use it on the 4th (and highest) setting with the Deep Pore Head brush and Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 2-3 times a week and sometimes I skip a week depending on how my skin looks.

Bottom line

I’ll likely forever be a Clarisonic fan and will always want the newest device. If you already own a Clarisonic, there’s a slight chance of FOMO (fear of missing out) but you’re already doing right by your skin. But if you’re the “ohhhh something new and shiny? I NEED” type of girl, look up which spas or physicians in your area have it for sale.

If you’re Clarisonic-less, my advice is to always get the latest model. But check out my Clarisonic guide to see which device bests fits in your lifestyle and budget.

Price and where to buy: Clarisonic Smart Profile is $265 at select physician offices and spas

I wish I could try one, the way my skin is……it may really help. The way my bank account and school are setup, that won’t be happening????????????

I was expecting this to be way more money than the regular clarisonic, so the price is actually pretty great for what it promises to do. Great review!

What is the difference between the Smart Profile Professional Exclusive and the Smart Profile you can buy online at Clairsonic?

      Hey Cheryl!

You’d have to compare the side by side specs, but the biggest difference is the SP Professional is for professional use by skincare professionals.

I’m trying to use my clarisonic pro I have had for over 4 years, but now I’m struggling to get a charge from it. It must have died, so I’m starting my search for another clarisonic. It is the best brush I ever had. I love it. It makes my skin glow and it feels so soft too. I know it may be a splurge, but the results are totally worth it. I think I might just get the smart profile. It seems like the best set for what I need and it includes a drying stand.

Before you buy another one, contact Clarisonic about your old one that doesn’t work anymore. Ask if they can fix it or what replacement options they have for you :)

Do you know where I might buy a drying stand for the clarisonic smart profile? My model did not come with the drying stand. :(

      Hi Joan!

I don’t—sorry! Have you asked Clarisonic on any of their social platforms or checked their site?
