If you’ve never been to London or just not familiar with the No7 brand, it’s the housebrand of a chain of “drugstores” (quotes around that because, I mean, it’s more than a drugstore) called Boots that of course fills prescriptions but it’s also in many ways like an Ulta since they sell both mass (or self-selection as it’s called at Boots) and prestige beauty brands. I hit one on Oxford St. when I was in London last year that sold both Chanel and Sleek MakeUP. The No7 brand is that perfect in between of the mass brands and the prestige brands and has skincare, bodycare, and makeup under its belt. I’ve reviewed a ton of No7 products which you can check out here.

Recently No7’s PR sent over some of their new skincare products one of which was the No7 Early Defense Day Cream SPF 30. I like to think of the No7 Early Defence line as being the line for millennials—where you need a little more than what you used as a teen but not as heavy as a super full-blown anti-aging regimen.

I gave the No7 Early Defence Day Cream a whirl now that the weather’s starting to cool down in NYC. It’s a lightweight cream, but feels like something that would be too heavy for my oily skin when it’s much warmer out. It might not be hydrating enough for me when it gets to the depths of winter, but for temps say in the 50s and below but above freezing, this is pretty awesome for my skin. For drier skin tones, this might be more of an early fall, spring, or maybe even a summer daytime moisturizer. It sinks right in immediately after applying leaving no filmy residue (what I LOVE in a moisturizer) and didn’t make me excessively oily throughout the day even with makeup on. I only had some minor oil breakthrough that a little blotting would have handled.

There is a fragrance to it that I don’t like, but it thankfully goes away after you apply it.

But overall, a pretty solid moisturizer provided you’re using it during the right time of year for your skin type like I mentioned above.

Price and where to buy: $20.99 online and in store at Target
