My New Hair + Protective Styling Products!

OK, so if you follow me on social media or even noticed some of my video demos here on the blog recently, this hair isn’t brand spanking new, but it’s still new…lol. I did a long weave break and looooved all the fun styles I tried on my natural hair, but with my birthday and fall coming, I wanted something new. I also didn’t want to risk heat damage on my natural hair so I also wanted something that was somewhat close or could be manipulated to look close to my hair texture. I had previously worked with Big Chop Hair with their Kinky Curly Clip-Ins so we worked together again on the Blown Straight texture. I got it done by my long-time favorite, celebrity hairstylist Gabrielle Corney, I have three bundles in with the longest layer being about 26″ and gurl, I know I’ve only had it for a short time, but I. LOVE. THIS. HAIR. Not only has it been a cinch to style so far, it’s been blending seamlessly with my leave-out.

I’ve been styling it in braid-outs so far (more on this in a future demo post and video) and I could do cartwheels with how easy it’s been to just put my hair in about eight braids at night and then take them out when I’m ready to hit the door. I’ll do a post later that shows how I do my braid-outs and style my hair soon so make sure you’re subscribed to the blog so you don’t miss it.

But here’s the thing with weaves…

They can sometimes require a special set of skills to ensure you don’t damage your hair underneath. Also, they can be itchy sometimes! Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter did not coin the “pat your weave” dance out of the blue—the itch is REAL, ya’ll…lol.

Now when I tell you that Jojoba Oil & Ucuuba Butter Track Tension & Itch Relief Serum was a lifesaver during my first two weeks fresh into this weave—guuuuurl. I do need to tell you that a little goes a long way and don’t be overzealous with it like me. I used up like 3/4 of the bottle within a week’s time…lol.

I also thought the Jojoba Oil & Ucuuba Butter No-Rinse Foam Cleanser was innovative. You can use it to refresh your style without water. This is awesome for protective styles that aren’t as easy to cleanse with water. I wish I had this back in March when I had my braids. I did wash them with regular water, but the Jojoba Oil & Ucuuba Butter No-Rinse Foam Cleanser would have definitely come in handy. Watch a quick demo of it below!

While I don’t have an immediate need for it, I also thought the Jojoba Oil & Ucuuba Butter Odor Neutralizing Mist was genius. It has a slight lemon-y smell that helps to eliminate odors and itchy scalp. This is awesome post-gym or if you walk into someone’s house who was cooking curry or frying fish and you want the scent out of your bundles…lol.

There’s also the Jojoba Oil & Ucuuba Butter Braid Up & Takedown Detangler which helps aid and prep the hair for being braided up (either for cornrows, your base for a weave or crochet hairstyles or box braids). The Jojoba Oil & Ucuuba Butter Laydown Lacquer helps to keep braided styles in-tact longer while the Jojoba Oil & Ucuuba Butter Braid-Up Conditioning Gel works to resist breakage caused by tugging and tightness as well as keep flyaways and frizz under control.

I do have more styles to try with this weave—I want to wear it just blown out (my leave out blends nicely with it when it’s blown out, but I do worry it’ll be a higher maintenance style that I’d like but fun for a moment…lol), I want to do big voluminous curls like this style Gabi did on me last year.

Thank you!!! I love the hair so far! Only time I’ve had blending issues was when I was in Miami and then just now in Atlanta with the humidity ?
