OK, so spring will soon be in the air. Possibly. Hopefully. Either way, Laura Mercier sent over some of their latest launches for the new season for review consideration and I gave them a whirl.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour

These are a nice one-and-done type of product that can double as eye makeup and as an eyeshadow base depending on the color you use. These are the type of perfect goof-proof eye makeup products for the person who wants an easy and quick “girl, I have like 4-5 seconds to get up outta here” look.

Out of the four shades, Rush and Beam are the most suitable for deeper skin. I love that Cashmere has this gorgeous pop of pink base and pretty green and blue holographic shimmer with duochrome qualities. Maybe not the first choice for work, but certainly pretty for the weekend. Rush is a pretty metallic pink. The other two shades Cashmere and Ginger are creamy matte beige and pink shades that wouldn’t be my first choice for deeper skin on their own, but since they have a bit of tackiness to their texture, these would make for nice eyeshadow bases.

If you have oily eyelids like me, either use an eyeshadow base underneath these or set them with a translucent powder to help prevent creasing through the day. The creasing isn’t bad (and can add to the look if you’re going for a carefree slightly “un-done” look), but if you’re

Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick

Another no-fuss stick product but this time for your lips. There are four new vivid shades for spring, and the formula on these feels like a pillow on the lips. Super comfy and long-wearing even through a meal. I like that you can line these and fill in your lips with the one product.

I’m showing these just as they come without lip liner as I always do with lip swatches.

Laura Mercier Velour Lip Powder Collection

These were quite interesting. They’re lip powders that give a pretty intense concentration of color (more diffused if you use your fingers and more defined if you use a brush). You can create any number of lip color combos with these. You first use the enclosed Base Balm to the lips and then add the colors. I found the Base Balm to not be super moisturizing so it felt like the lip powders highlighted the lines and dryness of my lips (hey, it’s winter). So I did add a gloss after the powders which gave me a much better look. I love these more in theory than in practice. They look chic AF but can get messy. I did like how they looked on my cheeks as blush, though this is not the intended use.

Both shades Paris (a mix of red, deep berry, and blush) and New York (a mix of orange, magenta, and raspberry) look amazing on deeper skin tones.
