10 Minutes with Danielle Episode 3

Hey there and welcome to episode 3 of “10 Minutes with Danielle,” a series in which I share things I’m obsessed with and other happenings that were too short for posts on their own, but altogether make for a hodgepodge of goodness. Or at least I hope…lol.

So lately I’ve been making some new additions to my wardrobe. I did a closet purge about two weeks ago (so highly recommend especially if you feel like you never have anything to wear or are hoarding clothes) and then decided I needed more prints and a few more staples for spring and summer. Spring is pretty nonexistent in NYC—it just seems to go from winter to less winter to summer here so I don’t really buy a ton of “spring” clothing. But this season I feel like I need everything especially since so much goodness was spotted on the runways. And I’m addicted to the color mint. I hate to sound all big-headed when I say this, but mint looks REALLY good on me…lol.

So onto a few things I’ve bought recently starting with this “OMG I LOVE IT” printed BCBG Andres Cutaway Blazer. I first spotted it on a super sweet and fashionable blogger I met at a meeting during fashion week in February. Since I put on some poundage I think I subconsciously avoided buying it but saw it at Bloomingdale’s about two weeks ago and decided I NEEDED it. The store didn’t have my size, so I went on their website to pick it up and found a 20% off coupon code (woo hoo). I’ve always loved BCBG. Their clothes have always fit me so well—they fit when I was much slimmer in my 20s and they fit me now even though I’m slightly heftier but on my way to getting my old body back. Plus while some of the runway items can get a little up there in price, most of their jackets (they make some of THEE best jackets) are reasonably priced and even better when you can catch a sale. But then last week I hit Bloomie’s in Soho and not only was the same jacket on sale, but they were also having their Friends & Family sale so I got it for $166 from its original $298 price tag. Needless to say the higher priced and not even worn yet jacket is going back.

I also picked up this BCBG Abree relaxed jacket about a week and a half ago at Bloomingdale’s for 50% off and it was the last one. When something’s the last one AND it’s your size, you HAVE to get it. It’s like a law or something.

And do you see how my skin is glowing in this pic? It’s a combo of using Perricone MD Blue Plasma and then makeup-wise I’m wearing BECCA Foundation Stick where I needed it, Diorskin Nude Compact, Lise Watier Portfolio (the highlighter shade under my eyes), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant, Illamasqua Blusher in Excite, and then on my lips a mix of MAC Prince Noir and Ruby Woo lined with Nightmoth.

Oh and here’s the full outfit (also wearing JCPenney Bisou Bisou top with lace insert, Free People cargos, JustFab Marne pumps)

And speaking of JustFab, I’m OBSESSED!!! Of all the shoe clubs out there, I like them so much for being consistently low-priced, having the cutest styles that don’t look cheesy when you get them, free shipping, free and super easy returns, great customer service, and they started to add new shoes towards the middle of the month so it’s like a little surprise. They send me shoes monthly for review consideration but I still manage to buy more…lol. They sent me these “Marne” printed shoes last month, but they run a full size too small, so I gave my 10s to my bud who wears a 9. Then by the time I remembered to order the size 11s, they were sold out. BUT thankfully JustFab has this service where you can be put on a waiting list to be notified when they’re back in stock AND you can even decide to just have them auto-charge your card and send your shoes the second they come back. I’ve used the auto-charge option twice and both times snagged shoes I really wanted that I thought I’d never get.

I know there are a lot of shoe snobs out there, but JustFab is awesome for those filler shoes. I like my designer shoes, too but there’s just so much fun in a $39.95 pair of stylish shoes that can satisfy a shoe craving that won’t break the bank. If I were to buy designer shoes as much as I buy JustFab, I’d be drafting this post at the public library while panhandling to make ends meet…lol.

miu miu animal print pumps

And speaking of shoes, I bought these Miu Miu pumps from Off Saks last year when they opened in Westbury, Long Island and even though I only paid like $200 for them, I was still a little iffy. Thank goodness I didn’t take them back. They’re not the comfiest shoe but they’re perfect for when I want to mix prints and add a little pop to my outfits (I wore them with my BCBG Andres blazer, an H&M tank, and Levi’s boyfriend jeans the other day). Also I’m OBSESSED with the Miu Miu brand in general. They make such quirky accessories that totally fit into my personal style.

I’m seriously stalking these Miu Miu Geometric sunglasses:

But in the meantime I bought these three from street vendors on Broadway in Soho:

So remember how I just said I’m obsessed with anything mint? So Coach came out with tons of mint colored leather accessories earlier this year around the time I was in Georgia. My niece is obsessed with the color mint—I mean, her fave ice cream is mint chocolate chip and she drives a mint-colored Volkswagon Beetle. So naturally she wanted one of the mint bags. I loved the color but somehow forgot I wanted one until Saturday night and then I went on a wild goose chase online looking for the Legacy Leather Large Clutch in mint on their website, but it was sold out everywhere. I woke up early yesterday morning to call a few nearby stores, but no one had it. I noticed the new Legacy Leather Basket Clutch in mint, but kept it in mind as my second choice. A really sweet saleswoman at the Coach in Roosevelt Field also recommended it when I called looking for the other one and then offered to hold a few mint items for me. So a few hours later I hightailed it to the store and came out with…

It’s so perfect for spring and summer.

And last but not least (did you notice this is taking longer than 10 minutes? lol) I hung out with my BFF since kindergarten this weekend to shop, eat, and pow wow. There’s nothing like having a great female friend and I’m so fortunate to have her and other great women to count on as friends. We chowed down at Benihana’s and shopped and chatted like we were still in high school. LOVED every single second.
