OK so super quick (or as super quick as my longwinded-self can get…lol): the Make Up For Ever 15 Artist Shadow Palette (sent to me for review consideration). So first I LOVE that Make Up For Ever has been doing pre-made eyeshadow palettes. Of course since forever you could make your own custom palette with their amazing shadow formula, but sometimes it’s cool to have the work done for you.

The Make Up For Ever 15 Artist Shadow Palette contains an array of shades of both neutrals and bold shades. There’s also a good mix of both warm and cool shades. Finish-wise there’s also a pretty decent mix of mattes vs shimmers. The shadows are super smooth and pigmented but you’ll for sure need a base/primer underneath to make sure they last—these faded and creased on me after about five hours when I tested them without one.

Though the shade range is pretty encompassing (considering brights and neutrals ratio as well as warm vs cool), this is an interesting pairing of shades. It’s not like a palette where all the colors are brights/accents that you have in your stash for moments when you need a pretty color (assuming you wear mostly neutrals) and then it doesn’t offer enough shade range for it to be the type of palette you take with you to travel as your sole palette. You’d definitely need to have a pretty extensive eyeshadow collection already if you were to go for something like this. I’d even venture to pretty much negate what I said in the beginning of this review about it being cool having all the work done for you with a pre-made palette and say that you’re better off making your own custom Make Up For Ever Palette.

Bottom line: Whether or not you get this depends on your current eyeshadow stash. It’s considerably a good value for the price, but most might be better off making your own custom Make Up For Ever palette.

Price and where to buy: $59 at Sephora (plus 4% cash back when you use eBates)

I really wanted this palette at first but as more holiday palettes popped up it fell off my list. I still love the way the swatches look but the color scheme does feel like it’s all over the place. Reminds me of my Anastasia Self Made Palette. I have to be really creative making looks with that one lol

I love this palette. I just wish that they had included a primer with it ( I’m slightly spoiled by Lorac and Urban Decay who do include a primer or a brush with their palettes). However, that wasn’t enough to deter me. I can see myself traveling with either this or the MUFE Nudes you need palette. I can see how the lack of mattes would be a deterrent for people, but for this girl who loves shimmers and satins it’s a dream. I can’t wait to see what else MUFE releases- I’m pretty sure this is going to become a problem for me lol
